We recently connected with Shanice Love and have shared our conversation below.
Shanice , appreciate you joining us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
My journey in finance started in 2010 when one of my older cousins asked me join his accounting firm as a tax accountant. My very 1st year, I only had 15 clients. In 2013, I relocated to Charleston, SC and opened my own small tax firm under his supervision and direction. Unfortunately, I had to move back to Miami a year later due to the passing of my father. I continued to grow my clientele and in 2016 I relocated once again, this time to Atlanta, GA. As my clientele grew so did my financial knowledge.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
In 2022 I launched LE Financial Group with a focus in Financial literacy and credit education in the black community. You see, financial literacy (especially when it comes to credit) is a topic rarely discussed in the black community. Our ancestors didn’t believe in banks or credit. We come from a generation that kept their money under their mattress. If you couldn’t pay for it cash, you simply weren’t meant to have it. Black Women & DIY Credit Repair and Black Women & Financial Education are 2 Facebook pages ran by LE Financial Group. We utilize these pages to educate one of the most underrepresented minority groups in the world, the black woman! We also run “Truth Be Told : Credit Undercover” a YouTube channel filled with tips and tricks on repairing and rebuilding your credit. Our community is growing and we are here for it. As for taxes, well we do that as well. My cousin, Enoch St. Clair has been a pivotal factor in my success. When I joined St. Clair Financial Services in 2010 I had no idea that decision would take me down this path. With 13 years under his belt he pushes the importance of building generational wealth. He continues to be supportive of my endeavors and I am happy to say that I will be opening a franchise branch of St. Clair Financial Services right here in Atlanta. My only hope is that I can continue to make him proud.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
To be honest, social media has been one of the major producers of new clientele for us. That and word of mouth. The one thing I learned from Enoch is that customer service matters, especially for small business owners.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Dropping knowledge every chance I could. The more the world saw that I knew what I was talking about, the more they paid attention to me and my business.
