Alright, Shalisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?

As Exquisite always strives to provide great customer service. There have been several occasions where we have assisted in providing top tier services and offer customer satisfaction. Exquisite Tax Service educates all clients on how to properly file their personal or business taxes through a detailed consultation prior to preparation. My success story is my customer retention, I have 99% happy clients and 1% of clients are dissatisfied with services because of their lack of knowledge regarding current tax laws. Since the pandemic I have been able to assist not only local but global clients as well. Offering services virtually has increased the trust factor in providing quality care and attention to my client’s needs. Exquisite Tax Service is a 5-star provider that has been able to provide quality services to clients across all 50 states.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

My name is Shalisa Smith, also known as the tax fairy and I am the owner of Exquisite Tax Service where I am based out of Dallas, Tx and I provide tax preparation services for personal and or business taxes across all fifty states. I have been operating my business for three years independently with thirteen years of professional experience. I graduated from Indiana University with my Bachelor of Arts in Science in Business and concentrated in Leadership Development. Through my business tenure many have referenced to me as a life coach where I assist them in offering sound advice for their business as well as future ideas and goals. My goal is to always make sure my clients are happy and understand the current laws within the tax world. I am most proud of my accomplishments from starting out as a one person team to now having nine agents that follow my leadership in the business. My vision is to one day give them the opportunity to operate their own successful tax business on a global level.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

The overall experience with taxes has been overwhelming. In my three years as an independent tax service professional, I have had to overcome many challenges and obstacles. I have had to persevere by reminding myself of my “Why” through the process. My reason is first and foremost providing myself and my family the opportunity of financial freedom through hard work, dedication, and the ability to believe in myself and educate while serving others through offering services where they too can have financial freedom. My resilience comes into play when I must remind myself that people are not financially educated. In season from January till April I spend countless hours responding to clients’ needs through phone calls, emails, and text messages educating and serving them during a demanding tax season. With providing services to over three hundred clients yearly my office gets extremely busy. I work around the clock to be able to provide one on one personal care.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Every opportunity is a lesson learned! From my research I learned that the previous laws are no longer relevant to the current tax laws. I have had to articulate and convey to my clients that what they also learned in the past is not currently conducive to the current laws of taxes. Being a consumer myself I wanted to make sure that my clients were proficient in comprehending tax knowledge so they can grasp and continue to stay in compliance with the new IRS laws. I want to give them the comfort in knowing we are in this together.
