We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shakita Conklin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shakita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I greatly appreciate my mother’s transparency about her journey. As a woman, it’s valuable to have the truth of her experience to glean from. So often parents sugarcoat and/or hide the truth of their narrative and it’s intricate details from their children for the sake of protecting them but in my experience it’s been helpful to know my mothers truth of her upbringing, interpersonal relationships, etc. It has greatly shaped who I am today as a woman and citizen.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
am Shakita Conklin, Sole Proprietor of Turquoise Majesty Intuitive Wellness. My foundation is rooted in both academia and leadership. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, a master’s degree in Arts and Liberal Studies, and my doctoral studies are in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Teaching has always been a calling. For over seven years, I supported higher education faculty in navigating the grant writing and submission process, equipping scholars with the tools to secure funding and advance their research.
Professionally, I served as a Research Administrator at one of the nation’s top cancer research institutions. While the work was meaningful and impactful, I experienced a profound awakening. I realized I was investing my time and expertise into something important, yet it did not nourish the deeply creative and empathic aspects of who I am. That realization became the catalyst for what would eventually become Turquoise Majesty.
Before the world formally acknowledged the COVID-19 pandemic, I began offering tarot and oracle readings to close friends. It started as a way to provide clarity and grounding during uncertain times. By April 2020, I expanded to private sessions, launched a YouTube channel to share collective tarot readings, and facilitated guided meditations via Zoom. What I quickly recognized was that people were not only seeking insight—they were seeking alignment, reassurance, and safe spaces to explore their inner worlds.
By July 2022, Turquoise Majesty evolved into a more expansive wellness brand. I introduced handcrafted oils, anointed candles, incense blends, spiritual adornments, spiritual hygiene essentials, and sound therapy services. Each offering is created with intention and designed to support holistic well-being—mind, body, and spirit. My work is not transactional; it is transformational.
Over the past year, I have also embraced another dimension of my creative identity—fully stepping into myself as an artist. My art has been widely received, and I am deeply grateful that others resonate with and connect to my co-creations. Art, for me, is intuitive storytelling. It is healing made visible. Through vending, exhibitions, and community engagement, I’ve had the honor of meeting so many brilliant souls who are also committed to doing intentional, heart-centered work. That sense of creative community has been one of the most affirming parts of this journey.
This creative expansion directly inspired the development of my 10-week self-discovery and alignment coaching program, “To Thine Ownself Be True.” The program is designed to guide participants through a structured yet intuitive journey of self-exploration, clarity, and alignment. We explore identity, authenticity, mindset, spiritual grounding, and purpose. I am currently commencing the trial cohort and thoughtfully refining the experience in preparation for the first official cohort launch in May 2026.
The heart of the program is helping individuals reconnect with their inner voice. Many people experience burnout, disconnection, or feel constrained by expectations that are not truly their own. “To Thine Ownself Be True” creates space for participants to examine who they are beneath roles, titles, and external validation. It is about alignment—internally and externally.
In January 2024, Turquoise Majesty was selected to participate in Our Village United’s Elevate Mississippi Cohort 4. That opportunity strengthened my operational strategies, expanded my network, and allowed me to refine my business systems while remaining rooted in my spiritual and creative mission.
What sets me apart is the intersection of structure and spirit. My academic background provides discipline, strategy, and systems thinking. My intuitive and artistic gifts allow me to hold space with empathy, depth, and authenticity. I bridge analytical precision with spiritual alignment.
The problems I help solve are often subtle but life-changing: lack of clarity, suppressed creativity, spiritual stagnation, misalignment, and burnout. My clients leave with tools, insight, and renewed confidence in their own intuition.
What I am most proud of is having the courage to pivot—to choose fulfillment over familiarity. Turquoise Majesty was birthed from authenticity, faith, and a willingness to honor my inner calling.
I want potential clients, followers, and supporters to know that Turquoise Majesty is a sacred and intentional space. Everything I create—whether it is a reading, a candle, a sound session, a piece of art, or a coaching container—is rooted in integrity and alignment.
“To Thine Ownself Be True” is not just the name of a program. It is the philosophy that guides my life and my work. When we learn to trust ourselves and live authentically, we unlock the clarity and peace we’ve been seeking all along.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
Selling my first original painting was one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences I’ve had thus far. It was in a very dark room at a club where I was concerned about people being able to see to see the art. Fortunately a few of my pieces were black light pieces and it worked out. The piece was called The Mothership and it warmed my heart to see it find a new home.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn as an intuitive wellness practitioner and as an artist is not to worry about doing things as I’ve seen them done before. It’s perfectly fine to push the envelope and do things as I feel soul led opposed to attempting to fit into some template for business and artistry.
