Shailyn , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

Creating a name for a business is one of the most important decisions to make. It is the face and meaning behind your brand. La Belle’ Beauty Bar has a deep and eloquent meaning. It was important to me to create a memorable name that stood out among other brands.

Back in 2021, I was sitting at my dining room table with my mom and my friends Dawn and Jas. They were all helping me brainstorm to create the perfect brand name. I wanted a name that tied into my French creole roots and represented “beauty.” My mom’s side of the family is from New Orleans, Louisiana. They have a strong lineage in many different cultures and ethnicities including the French heritage. Ever since I went to Paris for the first time, I fell in love with everything about it. Reminds me so much of my second home in New Orleans.

As I implicated my specifications on creating a name, my mom mentioned using the word Belle which means “beautiful” in French. It also made me think of Beauty and the Beast that took place in France with Princess Belle. I knew that was the perfect emphasis on my brand’s name. Princess Belle took what people thought was ugly, the “beast” and saw the beauty within. She helped the Beast discover what true love was which helped him blossom into something beautiful!

My goal was to have a name that showcased a place that makes people feel beautiful after they get serviced. I wanted to incorporate “beauty bar” at the end because we are a one-stop-shop that offers a plethora of beauty services and products. I then decided to make the full name La Belle’ Beauty Bar which stands for “The Beautiful” Beauty Bar.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Shailyn Ramsey. I am a North Carolina native. I grew up always wanting to work in the business field. I graduated from High Point University in 2020 with my MBA. I worked in the beauty industry and fell in love with making people feel their best! La Belle’ Beauty Bar was created to help people feel and look BEAUTIFUL! We are a one-stop-shop that offers a plethora of natural and sensitive skin care products and services. With our skincare products and services, we are able to tailor to all unique skin types. We offer services such as full body waxing, facials, massages, brow/lash services, and more! We also offer many natural skincare products and home goods.

I am so proud of how far La Belle’ Beauty Bar has come! Without each associate and client, we wouldn’t be where we are today! As a team, we work together to be able to create a lasting experience and provide quality services to each client that walks in and out of our doors. As we continue to grow, we will continue to add more quality services and products. Thank you for supporting your local small business. We appreciate each and everyone of you! Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

As the founder of La Belle’ Beauty Bar, it was very important that if anything, I, myself, needed to be impactful and create the standard of my company. My dad always taught me that everywhere you go in life, you need to leave with a good name. It was critical that wherever I went, I upheld myself to a higher caliber. For any business, whoever you work with is very vital in making sure they are aligned with the company values and morales. I am very adamant about making sure La Belle’ Beauty Bar keeps an impeccable track record. I believe that by being myself and surrounding myself by like minded individuals has helped us keep our positive reputation. Every component to any business is essential in creating an everlasting notoriety.

Due to Covid-19, there has become a lack of quality and service at many businesses. It is almost as if people forgot how to simply interact with others. As a fairly new business, it is imperative that we are always consistent in our values and service to our clientele. There are several factors that contribute to building a solid reputation within the market. Firstly, it was crucial to consistently deliver high-quality products and services. I value quality so I wanted to make sure each client at La Belle’ receives the best! Secondly, it is important for my associates and I to thoroughly get to know our clients and tailor their service(s) to fit them. Every detail matters. Additionally, it has been very rewarding to receive positive feedback and referrals from satisfied customers. That simply alone has built up our reputation in an impactful way! Word of mouth is the best way to build your stature.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

On February 11, 2024, life took a toll on me for the worse. That was the day I found my brother lifeless in his bed. I lost a part of me that day that I will never be able to get back. Grief looks very different to everyone. I was either going to let this break me or let it strengthen me.

Majority of people do not understand what business owners and entrepreneurs face on a daily basis. You have an added layer of pressure on your day to day life. I was stuck at a crossroad. I was going to either let grief consume me and let my business suffer or I was going to use pain and make something good come from it. However, my business failing was never going to be an option. I had no choice other than to figure out how to push through the extreme sadness and fog that consumed me.

Working for yourself, you do not have days off in the beginning. I had no choice but to work as I did not have time to sit and grieve. Everything happens for a reason even if we do not understand or like what is happening at the moment. I knew that by turning to God, I would see the light of it. Things were revealed to me after such an unfortunate event happened. That life altering situation changed me for the better. I was able to see things in myself that were hidden. I made a point to demonstrate that with God by your side, you can overcome anything that comes your way. Have faith and realize that each season is temporary and will not last forever. Focus on the positive rather than dwell in the negative.
