We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Scott Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Scott below.
Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
For me, success is playing my game on my terms without compromise.
I spent most of my life playing the game of life based on others’ definitions of success.
Even though I appeared to be winning, I didn’t feel that way.
Why?
Our educational and occupational systems create a game of life based on compliance, conformity, and competition.
Is it any wonder the game feels limiting?
Is it surprising that this game doesn’t make us truly happy?
You can’t win a game you don’t want to play.
So, what does it take to be successful?
For me, to be truly successful is to excel in endeavors that align with who you really are, what you’re really good at, and where you really belong.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Scott Perry, Chief Difference-Maker and encore life coach at Creative on Purpose, where we help purpose-driven creatives, freelancers, and entrepreneurs get clear about who they really are and closer to what they really want in life.
I deliver insight and inspiration about defining, developing, and delivering the difference only you can make in a weekly blog and broadcast.
I also offer coaching and community to catalyze my clients’ journey to find fulfillment, forge meaning, and make an impact.
I don’t offer a roadmap. Roadmaps can only take you where others have been or want you to go. I help clients construct a compass to help them find their own way into their potential and possibility with greater prosperity and peace of mind.
We all possess everything we need to succeed. We are sufficient as we strive. I help clients get out of their own way by eliminating what’s unnecessary and removing limits.
I honed my process by navigating my journey as a professional musician and teacher, head coach at Seth Godin’s workshops, and creator of my brand.
If you are ready to live and work with greater integrity and intention, I can help you do that in less time, with less effort, and with less risk (and have more fun while you progress).

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The fundamental question about social media is, are you using social media, or is it using you?
My social media expert friends tell me I do social media all wrong.
They send me updates about the algorithm and hacks for creating content that ranks higher and gets more impressions, reactions, and comments.
But here’s the thing.
You can’t win a game you don’t want to play.
I don’t want to chase an algorithm or be a hack.
I want to play my game on my terms without compromise.
What about you?
Are you following the herd or leaning into your distinction?
Are you on social media to put on a show or make a difference?
Are you chasing impressions or seeking to make an impact?
What if you show up on social media and simply play your game?
Do what you do on your terms without compromise, and let ’em watch.
Do your thing with intention and deliver it with integrity everywhere you show up.
You’ll get enough attention from enough of the right people to have enough conversations that connect you with enough of the right people.
And who knows?
Instead of following a trend, you’ll lead one.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped my reputation as a coach was paying attention to my character.
Character is who you really are, and reputation is who others think you are.
Character and reputation don’t always align. However, if you consistently show up and act with intention and integrity, your character can inform and influence your reputation.
Character may matter more than reputation, but it’s nice when they rhyme.
If you’re trying to boost your reputation in your market, here are some questions worth considering.
Who are you? Does it match with what others think? What can you do today to help ensure it does?
