Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Schakara Arrazola-Tiscareno. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Schakara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As a little girl I always knew my “Life Purpose” involved working with people and kids. I had a rough childhood and experienced a lot of sexual and emotional abuse. I grew up in broken home, with an addict mother in poverty. I had a hard time in school, due to my dyslexia and severe trauma. I learned at a young age what it was like to be left behind and I knew deep down in my heart that I was here to minimize similar situations and experiences from happening to others. Not everyone is brought into a safe and healthy home. Many of us, often seek a safe haven to rehabilitate self from the pain and suffering inflected by others and the darkness of the world. Though my own journey, trials, and tribulations I was blessed for the healthy, nurturing and loving individuals who opened their door and hearts to me. They provided me the safety and security I needed to begin my healing and growth process.
Now as a woman and a healer, I am able to see people authentically. To provide them a safe space of non-judgment with love and support. I believe that my pain allows me to stand comfortably with others in their darkest moments. We all need Love to WithStand in Life. My gift is supporting others along the continuum of one’s healing journey and to provide them a guiding light while suffering. I am here to walk with them as they gain a sense of empowerment and dignity. My work is truly led by heart center leadership and be an example of the strength that comes with venerability. To show others the true power and magic of self and community healing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With my Father, I was raised in a Catholic School. I experienced the severity of being raised around forced religion which became the leading motivation in me being an Interfaith Minister. I am here to break the molds and barriers that our society has created around God/Source. I honor my Spiritual background, by staying connected to my Ancestors indigenous ways of life and traditions in my work as an Alternative Medicine Practitioner. I protect and nurture those whom are navigating Grief and Suffering in my work as a Death Doula. I am called to cultivate the journey of remembrance by fostering our individuality and gifts through the magic of Energy Work.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I have spent many years reframing thoughts, perspectives, and exceptions that were a result of my survival yet, no longer serving. A lot of societal norms and pressures can be vary detrimental to our soul and core values. I am often challenged with the expectation to have a normal job, maintaining unhealthy family relations and to set my dreams aside to meet these illusions. Talk about a toxic rat race, that forces us to sell our souls and aspirations to what we are told “reality should be.”
I started my business in 2020 right in the middle of COVID, as I watched and experienced first hand our broken system fail. I will not conform to these expectations and/or beliefs that do not serve my highest good.
Life is too precious, and short to be building someone else’s dream. If you were to die tomorrow, would you be happy with how you spent your years and energy? How are you honoring this Life? Are you cultivating your highest joy?
I find blessings in surrendering to divine and receiving rewards of my work through the connections and relations I experience with other, not by societies expectations.
You will be surprised when you allow yourself to take a leap of faith, lean into your own fears, and surrender to this journey of Life. That’s where change begins to happen, and the miracle of life.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My business and life are vary similar in the fact that there is constant ups and downs. Life is hard. Being a business owner is hard. If I were to treat them as separate entities, the weight and pressures would be too heavy to carry at times. My work is an essential part of my life and being. I chose to live a life and follow a career that truly speaks to my values.
My career and passions are one. I am an Artist, creating and living my life with meaningful purpose.
