Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sasha Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sasha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
It is always been a pleasure to me to be able to serve individuals that are unable to speak for themselves or even advocate for themselves. I started a nonprofit organization to support men and women that were suffering with mental illness because I noticed and realized that there was a need for some support in this area within the community.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a mental health therapist and I am Radio Host and I wear so many different hats. As an advocate and mental health therapist for the community, one of the things that I have noticed is that there is a lack of transformational material and overall activities that connect with every individual in the community. I decided that I would be an actor, Radio Host, therapist, producer, and etc. to be able to reach every individual in every space or mindset in an effort to inspire, motivate and uplift them. I’m also an author and I have a written now five books about mental health, motivation, gratitude and even gave a story of my own life as an inspirational outlook.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The story the best indicates my resilience is the fact that I am a single mother and have not allowed anything to stop me from accomplishing so many goals. I can remember losing most of what I’ve had gained and then as a single mother still working myself down to the bone to reach the goals and achievements that I have a gained today.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson that I had to learn was that pain is not a problem. Pain became my embrace in my overall motivation to work through and gain as much strength along the path as obstacles may come in front of me but I still have the power to step over them and achieve whatever I am determined to.
