We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarita Day. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarita below.
Sarita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
I think for any small business to become successful, those people need the support of family and friends. A simple share on social media can make all the difference.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I write alternate world fantasy, steampunk, YA contemporary, YA drama, and a splash of dystopian. I love changing up the same plots everyone is used too. My characters cover a wide range of people. From the girl who doesn’t fall for a man in the end to a teenage queen during a revolution. I’m passionate about including all types of people in my books. My characters will never look or act 100% alike.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, I get a thrill seeing my book in the hands of another person. So far, my book has been in Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Utah, Idaho, New Jersey, Africa, and the United Kingdom! When I hear how my book has entertained someone I feel like crying tears of joy. That’s the reason I wrote it. Sure, a bit of money is tje cherry on top, but I mostly love bringing another world to others in need of an escape.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Amazon! I knew I could publish my books myself on Amazon, but I always thought that was the quitters way out. My book would only be taken seriously if a big publisher picked it up. So I let my book sit for years!
If wasn’t until 2021 that I saw other self-published authors sharing their experiences on Instagram that I realized self-publishing wasn’t what it use to be. Because of social media, it’s easier to gather a following and market to potential readers.
That’s when I took a leap pf faith. I published my debut novel, Fitzgerald, on Amazon and have never felt regret for doing so.
