We recently connected with Sarah Ajrouche and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Looking back I definitely wish I pursued my passions sooner with no delay. In the earlier stages of my life, I prioritized the expectations of others over my own aspirations, which led me to a more traditional path by attending college as a pre-dental student. While I value the experiences and knowledge I gained during that time, I now realize that I was investing my energy in something that wasn’t aligned with my true calling.
Had I followed my instincts and pursued my passion earlier, I would have been able to dedicate those years to building the foundation of my future. Starting sooner would have provided me with an extra two years of experience, allowing me to refine my skills, establish meaningful connections, and make a greater impact earlier in my career.
This reflection has taught me that the value of self-awareness and being unapologetic about following your dreams, even when it deviates from the conventional route. Today, I carry that lesson with me as a reminder to stay true to my purpose and to encourage others to fully trust their vision from the start. At the end of the day, the only person who has to believe in you is YOU.

Sarah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a hairstylist specializing in Brazilian blowouts and voluminous, bouncy blow-dries. From a young age, I’ve been passionate about hair and its transformative power. Despite being advised against pursuing this career due to its competitiveness and the challenges of building clientele, I’ve embraced the journey wholeheartedly.
With years of experience of both sales and business, I’ve learned how to approach my work with a combination of creativity, professionalism, and dedication. What truly sets me apart is the relationships I build with my clients. I believe in creating more than just beautiful hairstyles, I aim to provide a safe and welcoming space where my clients feel supported. As a mental health advocate, I’ve done extensive research on the topic, which allows me to offer a unique experience. While you may not get your hair done at a therapy session, you can certainly find moments of therapy in my chair. My clients know they can count on me, not just for their hair needs but also as someone they can trust for advice and encouragement.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my commitment to the process. Building a business from the ground up, with no outside help, has been both challenging and rewarding. I’ve experienced moments of instability and growth, but I’ve never let the ups and downs discourage me. I take pride in the resilience use developed and in the meaningful connections I’ve made with my clients.
My ultimate goal is to ensure that every person who sits in my chair feels valued, heard, and uplifted. Whether its through hairstyling or simply making a positive impact in the people I encounter.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
when I first started my journey as an independent stylist, I had absolutely nothing but god- not a single client and no guarantees. I took a leap of faith, stepping into the industry terrified yet determined to make it work. In the beginning, there were days, sometimes even stretches of time, where I wasn’t booked at all. However, I refused to let those moments of uncertainty deter me.
Instead of waiting for people to just come to me, I focused on staying consistent and proactive. Even on the quietest days, I kept myself busy creating content, managing inventory, investing in extra education, and constantly elevating my space to ensure it reflected the high standard I envisioned for my brand. This moments of preparation and persistence not only helped me stay motivated but also laid the foundation for the growth and success I’ve achieved today.
This experience taught me the value of discipline, resilience, and the importance of trusting the process. It reminded me that building something meaningful takes time, but with unwavering commitment and effort, progress is inevitable.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The core mission driving my creative journey is to help clients feel even more beautiful and confident in themselves. I believe that hairstyling is about more than just creating a look- its about empowering clients to embrace their uniqueness and feel their best.
This career has had a profound impact on my life; it not only changed it but, in many ways, saved it. I know firsthand the transformative power if finding confidence, and I hope to provide the same feeling to each client who sits in my chair. Whether its through enhancing their appearance or creating safe and supportive space, my ultimate goal is to leave every client feeling renewed, empowered, and truly seen.
