We were lucky to catch up with Sandra Olsen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sandra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
As Moss Art enters more into interior design, and esthetics the process is evolving. I see my Moss Art becoming the center peice of a room or office. Each Moss Art installation is telling a story or providing a peaceful backdrop, a meeting room with a company’s Brand name or logo on the Moss Wall. I recently have designed Moss Art Walls for therapy rooms, and wellness centers. The benifits of Green space are amazing for both customers and their clients.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Being a floral designer for many years combined with a long history in commercial merchandising seemed to provide me with a fine balance. When designing for clients sometimes you come across a request that just sparks your inner merchandising artist and the freeform of floral design! In 2018 that happened for me
The request was to use Moss in a specific vessel, I was immediately hooked and started researching Moss Art, Also I had exspeirenced what I call an endorphin high while working with the green Moss. My mood was elevated, I felt creative, calm and happy, I immediately started researching all things Moss and started working on my new found craft. I started designing small Moss Art Walls to sell that turned into designing larger Moss Art for clients. Each Moss Wall elevated my desire to know more about the product and how to achieve designing and installing these beautiful Moss Walls, both for personal and commercial use.
Being a floral designer has helped me to curate walls with balance and harmony understanding the clients desires and articulating that on a wall is very satisfying.
I’m very excited to see Moss Wall Art getting some attention in environments that are conducive to creativity in group settings, health and wellness, therapeutic areas for trauma victims, medical waiting rooms which can benefit patients. I think there are no limitations to the healing effects of Moss Wall Art.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I wish Sandramossart could bring Moss Art into every home and business. I hope to continue to build my brand and be an Ambassador for Moss Wall Art! This textual and visually stunning art can make you feel like you just had a healing walk in the woods. Moss Wall art is made from stabilized moss which requires no maintenance and can be enjoyed for many years in the proper environment.
One of my goals this year is to provide pre made Moss Art and Moss Art design elements you can order on our website . We are working hard to get this done by 2025.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Networking with people that understand I have a product that may benefit their business or enhance their clients outcome. There is nothing more potent then hearimg a clients happy exsperience working with me. I love that my work speaks for itself, and sharing their exsperience has been the best business model for Sandra Moss Art.
Funny story here A while back in time I decided to get a tattoo, upon having the art work finished on my body I confessed to the tattoo artist that this tattoo would be my one and only…he then very candidly and calmly said to me well Sandra your third one is on me!
That’s what I tell my clients now!
