We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful “San” Franklin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with “San” below.
“San”, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My Parents rooted me in Christianity and strong spiritual principles as a young girl. Because of this, I am always leaning towards spiritual principles to live life, and to succeed as being a good person; being a good person helps you live a good life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am San Franklin and I started out in the music industry 40 years ago in the period. I migrated to California in the early 90s and continued my musical career which afforded me opportunities with so many of our music icons. I then relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, and not only continued my music career, but have helped produce award-winning albums, all while pastoring a church, training Christian workers, board member and being a great mommy to my son…. I am also an advocate for domestic violence and Mental Health as I have been a victim and have received a diagnosis. I live a pretty boring life lol lol!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Even though it is not called a business per se, there is a business aspect of starting a church from Ground Zero. My “ business” was started with a partner, my former husband. We went through a divorce, and it literally split the church into several pieces. Most people thought that I would not continue nor recover, however we are still standing 7 years later and are stronger than ever. Being raised in the northern region, particularly Chicago, made me a bona fide Survivor…. I’m going to bounce back from anything!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I went back, I definitely would have chosen the career path that my parents wanted for me. When I entered into college, my major was business law with a minor in psychology. I still use the psychology of course with pastoring but I would have rather been a lawyer or a detective lol. I still incorporate the music and everything I do, so I guess that’s the profession that remains the same..
