We recently connected with Sam L. Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I figured out I had a natural ability/talent for music that was already built into me

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a singer songwriter/producer and arranger. My music is heavily influenced by music from the 60’s and I carefully arrange & produce each and every one of my songs differently. Lyrically, they don’t follow the traditional love song tropes like the typical getting together and breaking up songs. they lyrically come different angles in the relationship sphere and some of it is explicit/adult oriented, and sometimes I like to stretch myself and write about other non relationship topics in my songs as well. I’m in the business of writing original songs with interesting lyrical concepts, not to rehash the same ones that have been done time and time again by different songwriters over the years. While keeping my initial older musical influences intact.
I’m also crazy passionate about music from the 60’s so much that I often call myself a music historian/aficionado on that particular subject matter. I have done years of research on it & sometimes I know more then the people that were there based off of the many interviews I have conducted on my podcast with various 60’s legends such as producer/arranger Charlie Calello, and singer/songwriter of the Rascals Felix Cavaliere
One of my ultimate goals is to educate younger people about this quite amazing decade of music I grew up listening to, and preserve it for future generations. Cause I love it so much & I want more people in my age group to be aware of it. They deserve to be exposed to it for sure because that music was so good.
My podcast is called the Millennial Throwback Machine and you can find it wherever you listen to my podcasts and my artist name is Sam L. Williams, that is where you’ll find all of my original music on the streaming platforms. I currently have two EPs out.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The music business currently has MANY issues. It needs a COMPLETE 100% revamp. It used to be a fan driven business when fans would invest their hard earned money into the music they love from the artists and bands they love, now huge corporations that control many aspects of the live music industry are currently taking more and more money from artists and bands like they just don’t care and artists and bands are making pennies per stream. & hardly anyone goes out & buys music anymore. There is no record business anymore in the grand scheme of things. I pray for a time when artists & bands aren’t struggling financially anymore & a new online system gets developed where fans can invest their hard earned money into the artists they love & corporations don’t dip into that money & artists can support themselves financially from their music again.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I love music so much that I can’t see myself doing anything else for the rest of my life. I would honestly love to see my songs synced in some movie tv show or commercial. I know that might be difficult to do that right now because those opportunities may be limited with the current Writers and Actors Union Strike, but I could honestly see my songs being used in some commercials as well, and those are still being made even with the current Writers & Actors Strikes going on right now. I know a sync placement would make quite a huge difference in my current financial situation. I also ultimately want to be recognized on a much larger scale for my expertise in 60’s rock & roll history & I want to get younger people excited about this music & get them to be curious to learn more about it.
