We were lucky to catch up with Sage Bower recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sage, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
As I have grown up, health and wellness and the diversity of what that means for all of us has become incredibly important to me. In a world that is focused on the grind and making the most money at any cost, I have chosen a path where the goal is to slow down my own life and to inspire others to slow down and to prioritize their own wellbeing. As part of a society that moves so quickly, this is a risky decision. Building a business structured around wellness and mindfulness means that I, myself have had to put instant gratification and financial success on the back burner and rely on my support network while I build a life which represents the change in the world I wish to see. I am very grateful for the support I have received along the way and I am looking forward to what the future holds while remaining grounded in the beauty and chaos of the present.
Sage, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I grew up in a religious and unstable home in Utah. Along the way my beliefs changed from believing in a greater power outside of myself to making the decision to honor the power within myself regardless of any external source. As someone with chronic pain and illness my mission became one of finding my own healing path and guiding others on their own unique healing path. In addition to this, my neurodivergence makes attending traditional schooling a challenge for me, so I leaned in to the worlds of metaphysics and yoga to further my knowledge base in a way that works for me and my needs.
All of the services I offer follow the principles of connecting mind, body and spirit to bring about an understanding of the greater picture of the self to assist others in understanding what their healing journey can look like for them. I strongly align with the idea that being able to develop safety going inward and knowing how and when to do inner work and knowing how and when to take a break is crucial to the wellness journey. This is part of the beauty of the practice of yoga. Through yoga one sees through the signs of their body and the awareness of their thoughts how they are showing up in their life in surprising ways. Combining this practice with tarot reading gives a unique insight to the inner and outer worlds of the individual. I think of tarot as a psychological tool to use the archetypes found within the tarot to reflect our inner world back at ourselves in a unique and interesting way. Taking the awareness brought to the surface through yoga and tarot by integrating energy work into the mix provides a powerful release of blockages, attachment to traumatic events, and patterns that we otherwise would not have awareness of.
These practices all require time, patience, and a willingness to do inner work that will undeniably bring about temporary discomfort. In my opinion, that is the beauty of it all.
My practice is unique as I combine these modalitiesnthat are widely seen as spiritual, and while I am a spiritual person, I aim to ensure that my practices are grounded in reality and relatable to people from all walks of life. I strongly believe that these practices are meant to be shared with anyone and everyone who is interested in their own wellness journey and that all can be both humbled and empowered through these practices.
Auracle Energy believes that all bodies, all minds and all souls deserve to find community, support, and wellness and my goal is to facilitate a safe space for any on their journey to finding home within themselves.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think that community is the foundation for success. We are fed a narrative of independence, of only being able to rely on oneself and no one else. While it is true, some people are seasonal, some people will take advantage of us on our journey, at the end of the day being able to build a community of people that we can trust and rely on is crucial to our individual success. I most certainly would not be where I am today without the incredible family that I have found and built along the way.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Trigger warning: suicidal ideation.
As I stated earlier in the article, I grew up in a religious and severely unstable home.
As I became a young adult I shoved all of my trauma from my upbringing under the rug and made myself into a financially successful and “stable” young adult. By 23 I was married, owned a home, had renters, two cars and a dog. I was miserable and borderline suicidal. I hated my dream job, my marriage was in shambles and I was the most depressed I had ever been. At 24 I left my spouse and quit my job to pursue art and energy healing. Now, I am 28. Along the way I have loved, lost, messed up, grown, and found myself more whole and less broken. I still grieve my lost childhood, but my inner child lives on through my work. Everything I do, I do for the child within me who wants everyone to feel happy, safe and loved through al of their pain. Healing is a journey that only takes breaks, it never truly ends. I have made it my job in life to help others find the light in their darkness as I have been doing within my own life.
