We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabrina Bordley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sabrina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I left corporate America on April 2, 2021. I’ve always had a business but worked my business part time and worked my 9 to 5 full time. I was there for 10 years, but during the last 5 years I really began to pray for a release. I asked God to release me from that desk and allow me to do what I was passionate about. And allow me to walk into my destiny and fulfill my true purpose. Again, I prayed for 5 years.
As I was sitting at my desk, my manager sent me an email and as I finished reading the email God said so clearly, “today is the day.” Out of fear, I began to question Him and out of love for me He corrected me. He asked a simple question, “You asked me for it and now you question my decision! How dare you?” These are the types of conversations I have with my Father. I repented, wrote my resignation letter, arose from my desk and the rest is history.
I have been a full time entrepreneur for one full year! There are days I don’t think that it is going to work. And every time, I mean every single time I put in an application for employment I receive a DENIAL. And God says, “I got you, I released you and therefore I am obligated to take care of you.” That is all the assurance that I need to keep moving forward.
But let me remind you as the reader…I WAITED!!!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Wow! What can I say about myself? I am a lover of God’s people. For some time, I was unsure of who I was called to. I pondered and searched until the revelation came by way of my mother. She reminded me of who I was and whose I was. It was at that moment that I realized I was called to the Marketplace. I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I know what my full calling is whether it be in the pulpit or behind my vending table.
I am a Ministry Image, Life Application and Lifestyle Coach. I provide services to those in Business and/or Ministry who are looking to apply everyday knowledge to their business, life, brand and Ministry. I have helped start businesses, built media Ministries, increased revenue, created passive income streams, and assisted with lifestyle and imagery campaigns to name a few. I often tell people, “what is in you, will come out!”
I am a published author, blogger, leader, mother, wife and friend. Get to know more about me at linktr.ee/CoachSabrinaB
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I love social media for the purposes of being social. I have met so many like minded people who truly and genuinely support my efforts, whether it be via a share, a comment or an inbox. I remember when Facebook first became a thing, the saints deemed it as demonic and full of evil until we had to use it to reach the masses! I use my platform to promote my brand, my business and my Ministry. I share tips about business, snippets of my life and the things that mean the most to me. I am real, transparent and authentic.
I post daily. I am consistent and strategic about my content. There are times when I engage and other times where I simply post an opinion to start a debate. But again, it is all purposeful content. The engagement moves me through the algorithm boosting my name and prompts people to scroll my page who would have never given me a second look.
To those looking to build a platform on social media, there is one key word, CONSISTENCY. Find your market and target them. Continue to be specific in your engagement and content. And if you need additional help, contact me at www.ssbordley.com/book-online.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Providing quality products and by offering sound and proven strategies to others. Performing above the level of comfort and pushing past what would be considered normal. Furthermore, knowing mediocrity is not an option.
