We were lucky to catch up with S Morris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, S thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I began writing, when I was in high school. I was in creative writing, and English honors classes, it wasn’t long before I was captivated by how people were able to express themselves in their writings. I thought it was beautiful. Ten different people could read the exact same poem and it could be interpreted ten different ways. When you write to get yourself through something and someone is able to not only relate, but also use your words to get themselves through their own dark days I think that is the most pure and amazing thing. I write to get myself through my own bad days. The things I don’t talk about. I share what I write, to help others. To ensure that people know that there is someone out there that understands you. That they may have gone through something similar. Sometimes it feels like you’re more alone than you really are, and all you need is someone to understand. That is my goal. That is what I want to do. I want everyone to know that you’re not always alone. Even when you feel like you are.

S, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an author. I write poetry about life. What I mean when I say “life” is, everything that happens. From falling in love, to having a broken heart, to inner demons we all face eventually. We go through life. We struggle to come up with the words sometimes. And sometimes we even say the wrong thing. I write to make a difference. To try to help my readers. I want them to know that everything they feel and everything they go through, matters. That they matter. I began writing as a teenager. It was just to get through things happening in my own life. I had several family members pass away, one after the other, and as a kid it was hard to process everything happening all at once. Writing truly helped me. I had a project in my creative writing class my senior year in high school, and I needed a friend to proof read it for me. She said that she loved what I had written, and she related to what I had written. I had put her own feelings into words, which she hadn’t been able to do herself. I kept writing for the next couple of years, before I decided that I wanted to share what I had written. It was terrifying. I was so nervous letting others read everything I had written. But I knew that it was something I needed to do. After releasing all three of my books, I have had people message me through social media, or come talk to me in person around town, telling me their stories. I am so grateful. To be able to hear their stories and speak with people about the things that they may not speak on very often. To know that they we able to relate to the words I write, is a gift to me. I hope to be able to continue hearing their stories, and helping people.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my business, is being able to help people all over the country. Reaching people I have never met. Having them feel, like they are able to talk to me. They feel understood and relieved, because someone was willing to listen to them.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My two biggest goals are to continue to grow. As well as continuing to help people. I believe that one thing that people are lacking in life, is understanding. Sometimes thats all someone needs. They need to be understood. I think that everyone has been in a situation where they felt as though no one did understand them. When you feel alone, and you feel as if no one is listening to you, it can lead you believe you are actually alone. I witnessed people close to me, go through this. I wanted to help them. At times I didn’t know how to help. Over time, I learned to just be there. Listen. Let them talk about whatever they needed to. That is what drives me to keep writing. To keep sharing what I write.
