We recently connected with Ryan Solava and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan , thanks for joining us today. Do you have an agent or someone (or a team) that helps you secure opportunities and compensation for your creative work? How did you meet you, why did you decide to work with them, why do you think they decided to work with you?
In November of 2023 Los Angeles Pop Punk band “Cold Weather Kids” signed with Revival Recordings out of North Carolina after a few months of courtship. As a band we had previously found success in securing big stage opportunities having performed in front of over a thousand people at the Observatory in Orange County.
Revival Records provided an opportunity to further our reach internationally as well as help us put out more than one song at a time which was previously our method as a “do it yourself” band.
In August of 2024 the band will release their first EP with the label titled “Yesterday Gets Worse” a seven song EP that gave us an opportunity to explore more of our depth as songwriters instead of simply putting out one single after another.

Ryan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Don’t take yourself too seriously, try to make every environment better because you’re in it.
Simple, but that’s how Cold Weather Kids approach music with high energy tunes that shy away from the traditional relationship tropes and instead turn their focus on overcoming frustration, feeling isolated, aging, and other relatable anxieties with lyrics that poke fun at the world as well as themselves reminding everyone that: “Everybody’s got problems, nobody cares.”
If you grew up with love for the music of the mid 2000’s, the warped tour era, and are familiar with the phrase “it wasn’t a phase mom” then you’ll find something to enjoy at our shows.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Consistency is key, stay away from being a consumer, stick to being a creator.
Social media is a whirlwind of content. It’s literally everything all the time at your finger tips. It knows what makes you laugh, what makes you mad, what makes you anxious, and how long you tend to give your attention to any particular type content. See the problem with this?
We understand how great a tool it CAN be for promotion and furthering your audience but lets not ignore the rising discussion of how social media consumption can lead to high levels of anxiety and stress.
With our approach we try to keep the view on what we’re creating/providing to world FULLY acknowledging that we won’t please everyone on our creative journey. That’s part of the process… is being willing to be venerable so that the creation itself is authentic.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The idea that something you create can inspire good and belief of progress in others.
