We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ruwaydah Amin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ruwaydah below.

Ruwaydah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I first knew that I had a passion for performing arts at a very young age. I started by performing in school plays and at different events. I starting writing songs and poems around the age of 8. I would make my family listen to the songs and they were impressed with my skills and abilities. I would put on concerts in the living room for my family. I always wanted to be the center of attention. I wasn’t acting or writing as much music but the passion never went away. I recently started to pursue my passion for arts. People have been telling me my whole life that I am destined for greatness and that I am a true entertainer. I have recently been in several movies and short films throughout the DMV. When I am in front of the camera that is when I feel like my best self and I come alive.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I got into the entertainment industry a few years ago. I started modeling at different shows and I also started acting as a background actor in films. I also started attending acting classes so that I could continue to perfect my craft. What sets me apart from others is that I am multi talented. I am a actress, rapper, singer, songwriter, poet, model, writer and author. I have many different skills sets and I am talented in many areas not just one. I am most proud of my ability to make peoples day better with my talents. I take pride in being a beacon of light in this dark world that we live in. I hope that when people see me in the films, hear my music or see me on the runway they smile and know that everything will be ok. Life is a journey filled with ups and downs and my goal is to spread love and light through my work.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

A lesson that I had to unlearn is I have to live my life for me and do what genuinely makes me happy. Throughout my life I was busy doing things that make other people happy. I was living for other people and not for myself. I got to a point where I was overwhelmed trying to please everyone and I began to suffer. I then realized enough was enough and I had to start living my life for me and doing things that pleased me, I began to surround myself with people who poured into my cup instead of take from my cup, Once I did that my whole life changed and my career began to take off in a positive way. I became unstoppable.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when people let you know that they are watching you and that they are rooting for you. It lights up my day when people acknowledge my work and let me know how it made them feel. I love when my friends and family reach out and tell me that the saw me in a new film. Getting support and love from the people I love means the world to me. My support system is amazing.
