Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rose Wheel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Rose thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken recently was to leave my stable corporate job to start my own wellness business. It was a decision that weighed heavily on me because I had spent over 15 years in the same industry. I loved my role, the deep connections I formed, and the stability it provided. However, over time, I began to feel a growing desire to make a larger impact, particularly in helping other business professionals manage stress, burnout, and find a better balance in their lives.
The decision to leave wasn’t easy. I had a secure income, great benefits, and years of experience that I could leverage, however I felt a strong pull to do something more aligned with my passion. I knew the risk of losing financial stability and starting from scratch was significant. I also knew that if I didn’t take the leap, I would regret it forever.
Taking on the financial and emotional investment of building my business was daunting at first. I had to invest in marketing, create a loyal client base, and put myself out there as the face of my own brand. The uncertainty was both exciting and terrifying. However, looking back, it’s been the most rewarding decision I’ve made. I’ve learned more than I ever could have in a corporate setting, and I’ve had the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives by helping them prioritize their well-being.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into wellness began 8 years ago when I researched the risks of birth control pills, ultimately deciding to no longer take the medication I was prescribed for the last 10 years. The drastic drop in my hormone levels caused me to feel an overwhelming sense of doom and gloom, which led to multiple emergency room visits and lots of medical testing. In the end the diagnosis was anxiety, something I had never experienced before in my life. I was prescribed medication but wasn’t satisfied with that approach since I quit taking my birth control pills to get off medication. I began researching natural solutions to cope with the anxiety I was experiencing. I immediately turned to meditation and yoga to help keep my symptoms at bay. After some time, I felt called to deepen my practice so I pursued yoga teacher training and I gained tools to help get me through not only the anxiety I was experiencing but so much more.
Fast forward to a couple years later, while working in the corporate world, I noticed how often my colleagues and I experienced burnout, stress, and overwhelm. I realized there was a clear need for the tools I learned to help others prioritize their well-being while maintaining high performance. That’s when I decided to take the bold leap to exit the corporate space and launch my wellness business.
Today, I help professionals in high-pressure environments manage stress, improve work-life balance, and incorporate mindfulness into their daily routines. My services include one-on-one coaching, group workshops, retreats, and coming soon; an online community. I combine mindfulness, stress management techniques, and practical strategies to help my clients thrive, not just survive
What sets me apart is my personal experience in the corporate world, where I truly understand the pressures my clients face. I’m passionate about helping people navigate those challenges with healthier, more sustainable approaches. My work blends empathy, personal experience, and tailored wellness solutions that help clients build resilience and find more peace in their careers and lives.
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve seen in my clients, watching them go from overwhelm and burn out to energized and in control is incredibly rewarding.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I had to unlearn is that being busy doesn’t equate to success.
In the tech space, I was always scrambling to finish tasks and I felt like I never had enough time in the day. When I transitioned to building my own business, I was faced with the opposite: an abundance of time. It was a massive shift and a bit of a shock to my system.
I quickly realized that the frantic pace I was used to in tech didn’t apply to entrepreneurship. Success didn’t come from filling every moment with tasks, it was about quality and intentional time management. Once I embraced this, I was able to create more freely and shifted from a head-driven approach to being rooted in my heart.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe the most important factor for success in my field is authenticity and building genuine connections.
In wellness and coaching, people want to work with someone they feel they can trust and relate to. Being authentic and showing up as my true self helps me connect with clients on a deeper level. It builds trust and creates an environment where people feel comfortable opening up and make real changes. Authenticity in my approach allows me to be transparent about my own journey, which resonates with others who may be facing similar challenges.
In addition, networking and surrounding myself with like-minded professionals has been crucial. Building a strong, supportive network not only helps me learn and grow, but it also opens doors for collaborations, new opportunities, and valuable feedback. Connecting with others in the industry provides insights that keep me inspired and motivated, and it helps me stay grounded in the community I’m passionate about serving.
