Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robynn Shayne . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Robynn , thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I love being a creative artist. Being able to bring a story to life with lyrics and music always brings a smile to my face and warms my heart. The funny thing is, I have a “regular” job. If you want to call it that. I’m a flight attendant. I’ve been an artist and a flight attendant synonymously for quite some time. I was a flight attendant before I became an artist. I really do feel like it helped me literally see the world through different eyes. I’ve been to so many places I never would have traveled to if I wasn’t a flight attendant. I believe it’s helped me become a better creative artist. I will continue to do both because I love doing both!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Robynn Shayne and I started singing when I was still in school. I didn’t start hitting the stage until I was in my twenties. My older brother Shane was the catalyst that pushed me into becoming an artist. He loved to play guitar and was so musically talented! Sadly, he was taken from us at the early age of twenty. I already knew how to sing, but I needed to learn how to play the guitar. Thank goodness for YouTube! I taught myself how to play and shortly thereafter I started hitting up open mic nights. With friends and family behind me and my newfound talents I took the next step and started writing my own songs. Singing covers is fun, but singing your own songs hits different. When you write a song and bring those words to life, it lights a fire inside of you. Each song is your baby, and you want them to grow into something special.
After writing a handful of songs I put out my first EP album in 2012. I had no idea what I was doing and trusted the process. As great as I felt when it was all said and done, there was still something weighing heavy on me. I didn’t know how to push for the sound I wanted on my first album. Don’t get me wrong, it sounded great but when you have creative ideas of what you think it should sound like and it doesn’t turn out that way it can leave you wanting. Unfortunately, at the time I was too intimidated to speak up. Those songs never made it to the radio. Not because they weren’t great, but because I didn’t know how to get them on the air, I didn’t know how to get my music on terrestrial Radio. Shortly after, I met my now husband. He showed me around Austin when we were dating and took me to a few Honky Tonks. One of them was Ginny’s Little Longhorn. I fell in love and told him I would like to see about playing there. We left my CD with the owner, Terry and figured I had a 50/50 shot.
Terry called a few days later and booked me for a show. There just happened to be reps from Lone Star Beer there. They approached my boyfriend at the time and wanted to take us to lunch. That’s the day I got sponsored by the National Beer of Texas!
Fast forward to getting back in the studio and working on my 2nd album. I had finally decided to write a song honoring my brother’s memory. I wrote “Rebel Child”. This ended up being the title track to the album. This album brought me closure and honored my brother Shane in a way I knew he would be proud of.
After two albums under my belt, touring, and writing plenty of new songs, I was ready to head back into the studio to cut my 3rd album. This one was truly a masterpiece! We went to Nashville to record this one with Producer Shawn Byrne. He’s a very talented musician and producer. Coffee Days and Whiskey Nights has reached Gold status and really helped bring my name into the spotlight.
I’ve been able to tour all over the world. My songs have been used for line dancing competitions and I’ve played some iconic stages. You may have seen my viral video of me singing “Royals” on a plane. That’s when both of my worlds collided.
Over the past year I released my 4th studio album, Let’s Get This Show On The Road, kicked off The Music Fest in Steamboat, and played a quality set of shows at world famous venues like the Bluebird Cafe and The Saxon Pub.
I’ve recently finished cutting a few new songs of mine and can’t wait for you to hear them!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is motivating others to live their dreams. I love how my words and music can resonate with different people for different reasons. The way people can be inspired by my words is truly amazing!
Have you ever had to pivot?
I’ve learned a lot deciding to be an artist. The business side of things can be intimidating, but if you don’t take care of it, you will be spinning your wheels. Knowing when to say no when someone says you won’t be getting paid, but you will get plenty of exposure. Know your worth and remember that quality over quantity is always best. Run your brand like a business because it is. Entertainment should never be an afterthought. If a venue or a production company cannot pay you and your band what you’re worth for your services don’t make the mistake of conceding just to play. Your services are worth all the time and effort you have put into them. Ask yourself, what is that worth to you?
