Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rita Hinton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rita, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Savanah Bleu did not begin with a business plan. It began with a feeling.
I remember having a moment where I realized I wanted something of my own. I had spent years building my career in customer service, helping others bring their visions to life, solving problems, and supporting businesses from behind the scenes. But deep down, I knew I wanted to build something that reflected me. I wanted to build something meaningful, something that represented confidence, growth, and independence.
At first, it was just an idea. I did not have inventory. I did not have a website. I did not have a logo. What I did have was vision.
The first step I took was research. I spent hours learning about the handbag industry, understanding different materials, price points, suppliers, and how brands positioned themselves. I paid attention to what made certain brands feel elevated and how presentation influenced perception. I knew I did not want to rush. I wanted to be intentional.
Once I understood the landscape, I began sourcing. I looked for pieces that aligned with the feeling I wanted Savanah Bleu to represent. Structure. Confidence. Timelessness. When I found pieces that reflected that vision, I invested in my first small batch. That was a pivotal moment. It made the idea real.
Next came building the identity. I developed the name Savanah Bleu, which represented elegance and strength. I worked on the logo, the brand colors, and the visual presentation. I created the website, established my online presence, and began introducing the brand to the world. Every detail mattered, because I understood that people connect with how something feels, not just how it looks.
There were many late nights and early mornings. I balanced building my brand while maintaining my career and personal responsibilities. I learned how to photograph products, how to present them, how to communicate the brand message, and how to connect with potential customers. I invested my time into understanding not just how to sell a product, but how to build a brand.
One of the most important things I had to overcome was waiting for the perfect moment. I realized there is no perfect moment. Execution begins with decision. I made the decision to start with what I had, learn as I went, and trust the process.
Over time, each small step built momentum. The first product. The first photo. The first website visitor. The first customer. Each moment reinforced that I was no longer just thinking about it. I was building it.
Launching Savanah Bleu taught me that businesses are not built in one moment. They are built in a series of decisions. Decisions to believe in yourself. Decisions to begin before you feel ready. Decisions to keep going even when the outcome is uncertain.
What began as an idea became a brand because I chose to move.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Rita Hinton, and I am the founder and creative director of Savanah Bleu, a Texas based luxury accessories brand focused on curated vegan leather handbags and travel accessories. Savanah Bleu was born from my personal journey of growth, resilience, and the desire to build something that represented confidence and forward movement.
My background is rooted in customer service and corporate operations, where I spent years working directly with clients, managing expectations, solving problems, and ensuring people felt heard and supported. That experience shaped how I approach business today. I learned that trust is built through consistency, professionalism, and genuine care. Those same principles became the foundation of Savanah Bleu.
I did not come from a traditional fashion background. My entry into this space came from vision and intention. I developed a deep appreciation for quality, presentation, and the emotional connection people have with the things they carry. I began researching the handbag industry, learning about materials, sourcing, pricing, and brand positioning. I wanted to understand not just the product, but the purpose behind it. From there, I began carefully curating pieces that aligned with the identity I wanted Savanah Bleu to represent.
Savanah Bleu offers thoughtfully selected handbags and travel accessories designed for individuals who value both function and confidence. These pieces are chosen to support real life. Whether someone is heading into an important meeting, traveling toward a new opportunity, or simply showing up for themselves, the right accessory becomes part of how they carry their presence. My goal is to offer elevated, accessible luxury that feels intentional and empowering.
What sets Savanah Bleu apart is authenticity and purpose. This brand is not driven by trends. It is driven by story and connection. Every piece is hand selected with care, and every detail of the brand reflects structure, confidence, and timeless simplicity. My customer service background has also played a significant role in shaping the brand. I understand the importance of listening, responsiveness, and creating a positive experience. People are not just purchasing a product. They are investing in how it makes them feel.
What I am most proud of is building Savanah Bleu from an idea into a growing brand while remaining true to its purpose. It represents independence, perseverance, and belief in yourself. I built this brand while balancing my career, my family, and my responsibilities, and that journey is part of what gives it meaning.
The most important thing I want people to know about Savanah Bleu is that it is built with intention. It is for individuals who are evolving, who are building something of their own, and who understand that confidence is not something you wait for. It is something you carry.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation within my market is authenticity, consistency, and intention.
From the beginning, I have been intentional about every aspect of Savanah Bleu, from the pieces I hand select to the way I present the brand to the world. I do not believe in rushing the process or following trends simply to keep up. Instead, I focus on offering pieces that align with the vision and values of the brand. People recognize when something is genuine, and that authenticity builds trust over time.
Consistency has also played a major role. I show up for my brand daily, whether that is refining the visual identity, connecting with customers, or continuing to learn and grow within the industry. Reputation is not built overnight. It is built through steady effort, attention to detail, and honoring the promises you make to your customers.
My background in customer service has been one of the most important foundations in building both my brand and my reputation. Working closely with clients taught me how to listen, understand needs, and deliver solutions with care and professionalism. It taught me the importance of responsiveness, clear communication, and follow through. I learned that people remember how you make them feel, and that trust is earned through consistency and respect. I carry those same principles into Savanah Bleu by ensuring that every interaction reflects professionalism, appreciation, and genuine care for the customer experience.
I also believe my professional experience strengthened my understanding of accountability and reliability. These qualities influence how I operate my brand and how I connect with my customers.
Most importantly, I built my reputation by staying true to the purpose behind the brand. Savanah Bleu represents confidence, growth, and forward movement. People connect with that message because it is authentic and rooted in real experience. When your brand reflects who you truly are, your reputation grows naturally.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most defining pivots in my journey was the decision to step fully into building Savanah Bleu while continuing to navigate my professional career and personal responsibilities.
My background has always been rooted in customer service and corporate structure. I built my career around stability, professionalism, and supporting others. That environment taught me discipline, accountability, and how to operate within established systems. However, I reached a point where I realized I wanted to build something that reflected my own vision and purpose. I did not come from a fashion background, and I did not have a roadmap. What I did have was belief, life experience, and a clear understanding of how I wanted people to feel when they carried something connected to my brand.
The pivot was not a single moment. It was a mindset shift. I had to move from thinking like an employee to thinking like an owner. That required me to trust myself, make decisions without certainty, and embrace the discomfort that comes with building something new. I invested my time into learning the industry, understanding sourcing, developing my brand identity, and showing up consistently even when results were not immediate.
There were moments where I had to adjust my expectations, refine my direction, and remain patient with the process. I learned that growth does not always happen in a straight line. Sometimes you have to pause, reassess, and move forward with greater clarity.
What that pivot taught me most was resilience. It taught me that it is never too late to pursue something meaningful, and that your background does not limit your future. Every skill I developed in my career, especially in customer service, became an asset in building my brand. It strengthened my ability to connect with people, understand their needs, and build trust.
That experience shaped not only my business, but my confidence. It showed me that stepping into the unknown is often the beginning of becoming who you were meant to be.
