We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Richie Valor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Richard below.
Alright, Richie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
Ive had unexpected problems my whole life the struggle was real until I figured out life. My step father would go out on crack binges leading into me getting woken at 3 am with my mother either crying drunk or beat in the head with blood trickling down staining carpets.
I ended up on probation as a juvenile and would be back and forth to djj and djj run housing programs
During the crazy fights I would act out and my mother was looking for reasons to put me away at all times.
I was kicked out at a very young age constantly couch to couch or living in the woods
And it seemed the universe was trying to guide me and would keep punishing me in the right direction with all the unexpected problems( other then a few I’ve mentioned ) to learn from mistakes
I resorted to drugs not seeing how much it was hurting my life
And ended up in prison..
I kept writing and searching for ways to better myself not only for my mental but to be able to speak to others on what I learned from every unexpected problem/issue
I could say unexpected problems made me a better man and artist

Richard, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the music world because I didn’t know what else to do with my life.
My buddy had a studio in Florida in his closet and I asked him if I could try and free style ..
He threw on a beat and I was hooked for the night
I wasn’t thinking it was going to be a thing and rarely did it until I moved from FL back to PA. Then one day I was randomly writing some poetry and my ex girlfriend’s mom read it and thought I should try out rapping.. so I threw on a beat I found imon a pandora station and wrote a song.. I went far and wide to find a studio and found one and just continued until I found a show manager that randomly came into a diner I was working at and put me onto some shows and a fly by night record label
I then found a promoter that now runs powered by Virginia..
He put me onto a bunch of shows and I branched out to many other people and would go all around the tri state and would perform as the moniker WildChyld ..
I ended up in prison and when I got out I moved to ohio and was introduced to a independent lavel group named Tritone Music..
They have put me on to opening for dirtball from kmk
Icp.. Eshom.. Lardi B… Ouija Macc.. and many other shows..
I feel as if I set apart from a lot of other only because I’m not just a rapper. I play guitar piano and mix and master music and..
I’m most proud of my message to my fans and potential fans because I’m trying to give knowledge of life and how to go about it in a positive way and also staying off of hard drugs..
I’m also most proud of myself for not giving up and continuing to learn new outlets to be worth more in the industry itself..
I am all about recovery and second chances.. we all make mistakes but what’s more important is what you learned from your mistakes and what you did to apply the better option you learned getting up off the ground from rock bottom

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding feeling on this musical journey is when people understand my message and can relate and then come to me asking questions about certain situations going down in your life

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, I have the want to help others with message of the struggle and coming from nothing I want to help people get sober from being a good example through my artistry it’s the most intoxicating feeling in the world when past friends of mine get off of drugs because they see how much better I’m doing and what I’m doing in the music world only because I can focus better without wanting the drugs and without this music and the whole process of how it works I feel as if I would fall back into the the world of my horrible past
