Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Richard (Richie) Awojoodu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Richard (Richie), thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first song I ever wrote was called “Eu”, a song about a man relentlessly pursuing his love Interest. In this song that love interest is Euphoria personified and the more I wrote to complete the song the more I felt the nervousness of making a song that may not be good enough. 7 months later I got the chance to perform the song and the feeling of it being well received was like no feeling I ever felt, true Euphoria. That’s when I knew I wanted to passionately pursue songwriting, rapping and singing

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Growing up in Montgomery County I noticed there were many resources to support the physicality and knowledge within the community however often times there were not the platforms/resources for one to develop their artistry. In lieu of minimal opportunities, I’ve found myself becoming more passionate about learning all I can to teach other artists around me and hopefully getting to the point where we could get enough capital to instill these resources into a community. Studios, Courses and more, can be provided to guide younger creatives in the different facets of expressing their artistry. For now it’s all just a dream/vision but it’s what I’m pursuing.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The number one thing I tell artist I’m developing which I also reminded myself often, was to love myself so much that you are comfortable enough to share that with the world. If you are comfortable with yourself then you will eventually find a niche that accepts you and a place to live and grow. Once you’ve established a great sense of identity the second goal is to never let people forget the association of your face to your artistic expression. Post often with the act of, reaction to, result of you expressing your artwork. Those probably aren’t perfect answers but it gave me a little traction
