Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rennee Hubb Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Rennee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Inspiring 2 Live started as a hashtag and was officially birthed in 2020 when I lost (4 family members within 40 days). My grandfather, grandmother, niece, and nephew Marcus A. Godfrey gained his crown on July 22, 2020. I found myself at one of the lowest points and needed a way to express myself. I launched Inspiring2live, which started as a way to inspire people, win souls to Christ, help me heal, and a way to express my creative ideas.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Rennee’ Hubb Johnson is an overcomer, author, mother, grandmother, and Evangelist. Rennee’ was featured on WUSA 9 Great Day Wash, Fox 45, Fox 5 The Good Word Podcast with Tishia Lewis, the Black News Channel, and more.
Rennee’ launched a brand titled Inspiring 2 Live; it includes Inspiring daily messages, a Parfume named Rennee’, apparel with her motto Impact Over Popularity, and one kind of African American ABC Affirmation card. Rennee’ also runs a catering business with her sister, Robin & Renneé Catering. They are one of the 2018 Top 100 Minority Enterprise Business Winner. (www.RobinAndRennee.com)
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story from my journey that illustrates resilience! My sister Robin (my business partner for my catering business. Had steady clients until 2020 when Covid hit, then in June of 2020, we lost our grandfather, then in July 2020, 30 days to the day of losing our grandfather, we lost our Granny, then two weeks later, I lost my niece, and two days after that we lose my nephew (Robin’s son). Our business and life changed in months, and it was completely unexpected. I took time to regroup, pray, and seek God’s direction. Here we are two years later, with a renewed focus, vision, and mind.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
This question made me realize that my catering business and Inspiring2live were started from painful situations. That helped me grow and develop what was inside of me. My catering business was funded from funds I received when I lost my job. I prayed and met with my Pastor, and he said, Rennee’, ”use what’s in your hands.” God began to speak and guide me through the process, and I applied for a tax ID, business license, licenses, and more. I tell this story to anyone who will listen. Suppose you do not have a million-dollar investor or bank account. Start small, and as your vision grows, so will your revenue. Take off the limits and know that you can do it.
