We recently connected with Renetta Cheston and have shared our conversation below.
Renetta, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
I was running an influential business in Georgia, and all of sudden I heard God say shut it down. I was having competition doing everything to shut me down & then I just closed the business to pivot. The pivot was crazy! I had been doing this the whole time in my business of Massage Therapy & Holistic Practitioner for so many years. I had been helping others in the area of mental health & spiritual assistance. When clients were on my table & all the people that were in my life (friends, family, & coworkers) all came to me for answers in their life. I heard God say use your natural talents & shift. So, I went to what I know spiritual processes and helping others to understand that in their lives. It began working well and many were helped, to begin to change their lives for the better. One young lady stayed with me and left to start her own business, others began to just change their environments and the people around them, and then I just kept going seeing lives changed.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Renetta Cheston, I was an US Army soldier who when I returned from war and other duties. I reached out to receive help for PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), but they put women soldiers on hold to take care of the male soldiers. This was until former-President Barack Obama came in office and set up a task force to help. Before that, I set up a non-profit “Refuge Women’s Transition Center”. I started it because as a veteran I ended up homeless with a 2 year old. I went to receive help from the homeless shelter, but they found out I was a veteran then I went to the VA (Veterans Administration) for help. However, because I wasn’t on medication, they wouldn’t assist me and that because I slept on a couch and not the steps of a friends house. After that, I decided to start to go to school for Massage Therapy, Pharmacy Technician. and other medical schooling. I now have my Master’s in Healthcare Administration (to run a hospital), but used it to run a business. I ran a few business’. They include “Healing Touch Spa Massage” (recently closed to pivot) and “Life Success Results, LLC”. (LSR), LLC is about going into the darkness (shadow) of ourselves to heal from the inside out instead of waiting for a guru, priest, preacher, or anyone on the outside to bring you peace. I help others understand the hero they are looking for is on the inside of them. I help others by weaving wisdom, intuition, and spiritual insight into pathways of transformation. The transformation process isn’t easy as I show them daily through my own walk. But to be sovereign is necessary to live as you want without begging other for help. God said. “He would supply our needs”, but are you ready provide Him with a basket to put it in or will you stay in fear of what they (system) tells you. you can have.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In every step of my journey, there have been every speed/road block in my life and businesses. I started and every step I made their where the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced. I had business owner cohorts who stole my customers by undercutting my prices. We were in a cohort and were intimate about our pricing. They reached out to my customers and even spoke words to destroy my relationships with my customers and new customers. I had told myself not to worry and that they would know it was a false story. However, they believed it and within a week, I pivoted from my Massage Therapy business after being in business for over 8 years. I was discouraged at first because I couldn’t believe, then I understood if they believed there was more going on than I knew. So, I took time to heal and deal with what had happened and then I started over. I went to school, to gain wisdom and understanding on things I didn’t quite get the gist of. As I went, so many hurdles came and I found myself alone in solitude. The people I had trusted had walked away and I just processed the pain/discomfort alone. I later found out I was diagnosed with breast cancer and told I had 6 months to live. I changed my eating habits and ate flowers out of my backyard (daisies-if you lost in the woods these are edible the whole plant but only the yellow part). That was in 2017, I’m still here for taking care of myself and being responsible for my own life. Sovereignty is key to life. I realized where I went wrong and began to fix it by finding herbal ways and learning to live a life of balance. I haven’t always kept this, but when I feel I am off on my goals I set. I take the responsibility of resetting my heart, mind, and body.. Resilience comes from taking care of daily responsibility on a daily basis. You will make mistakes, but mistakes show you what doesn’t work to gain better understanding of going forward in life. If you set out on the entrepreneurship path, you will make lots of mistakes but don’t get into perfectionism. Just learn and pivot as many times as you must. No one has given us rules for life. It is based on what works for you and no one else. We all a dream in our hearts that The Creator gave us. It’s our responsibility to bring it to past. The goal is to get back to The Creator clean as you left and to fulfill the plan/dream that you talk about all the time. I help others find their route/journey path as I’m walking on my own as well. I’m not a guru, I’m always learning and I don’t know anything but what I know more until more information is given. That’s how life is, don’t look at what’s gone but what you have left to rebuild and keep going. Every time I make a step forward, I know things may not go how I want them to. That should never stop me from moving forward. Every step forward removes the last one. So keep moving forward, not matter how painful/hurtful it feels. Beat the odds of life to become who you want to be.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Lesson: Everyone that smiles in your face isn’t for you.
Every smiling face isn’t for you always. The mask that people wear will break at one time or another. You won’t know it breaks until you are moving up past what they think you should have. See, people size you up when they first meet you. I’m 52, but I look younger than what I am. So when, I meet people they assume I’m easy prey. However, I walk with God not just in word but my actual walk on a daily basis. That means, I spend time in prayer/meditation and in the Word of God daily. I’ve learned about every other religion/worship that is out here, because I don’t eve want to offend someone else’s religion/worship because it’s not familiar to me. What I learned is their all in alignment with each other. It is the humans who want to control others that cause the problem. I grew up as a Preacher’s Kid, so I’ve seen the good, bad, ugly of the church in the Christian sense. I’ve even been sexually assaulted by a preacher in my youth. It almost turned me against God, because as a child I saw preachers as God’s representatives. Later as growing up, I learned we’re all adults and we get to choose how we live our lives. On this journey, I have had so many experiences in the spiritual sense. Some good and some bad. What we don’t understand is when we gossip/lie/chatter on people, we open up the pit of hell and all involved are help in contempt with the enemy of God until we go back to The Creator. The Creator sees all our misdoing and if you can see it in someone else, it’s time to look in the mirror. It’s in you too! That was an ouch moment, but it has taught me to be less judgmental and to pray for others. Most of the time they don’t even know what they are doing. When we realize, that what others say doesn’t mean anything, It’s what I say to myself. I have a formula that I use to help others to process the pain that comes from gossip/lies/chattering that others do. One main thing is this, those above you don’t see you-it’s only those already below you who try their best to tear you down. Use all of that gravity been used to pull you back to go against the law of gravity, to overshadow it with the law of thrust. This allows you to take off and love yourself no matter how much rejection/abandonment/scarcity-lack/loneliness comes. See if you use everything being sent as a stepping stone instead of a nail in the coffin-we win!
