We recently connected with Remy Uhler and have shared our conversation below.
Remy, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
December 8th, 2023, is when the first seed was planted for Bloom A New You. That night, I lost my beloved dog, Olivia.
Just hours earlier, I had been holding her, hoping the medication would help. Instead, everything shifted, and I found myself at the vet, realizing I wouldn’t be bringing her home. I held her in my arms as she passed, and then I had to walk out without her. I got home and had no idea what to do. I even questioned if I should change my clothes because I didn’t want to lose her scent. I reached out to people, including those in the mental health field, but nothing truly helped me navigate what to do next. At the time, I had just completed my Master’s in Social Work, and I realized that if I felt this lost, then others must feel the same way after an unexpected loss. So I created what I couldn’t find. As I grieved through the spring, I began putting together comfort kits with the items that helped me through each day. I also wore a bracelet that became my anchor. It was my quite reminder that I didn’t have to “move on” to keep living. What started as something deeply personal grew to something bigger. Through Bloom A New You, I create meaningful, handmade jewelry that helps fund grief comfort kits for those experiencing loss and life’s hardships. What came from the most devastating night of my life has become something rooted in healing, connection, meaning, and love that continues.

Remy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the founder of Bloom A New You and Olivia’s Healing Paws. A purpose driven jewlery company and non-profit rooted in grief, healing, and connection. My background is in mental health. I recently completed my Master’s of Social Work and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, so supporting others through life’s difficult circumstances has been at the core of who I am. However, Bloom A New You didn’t come from a business plan. It came from a personal loss. After losing my dog, Olivia, I found myself completely unprepared for what grief actually looks like in real life. Even with access to mental health resources, I didn’t know what to do in those first hours, days, and weeks. There was a gap between what people say about grief and what it actually feels like to live through it. That is how Bloom A New You began. Today, I design handmade, meaningful jewelry, intended to be worn in everyday life. Whether someone is going through grief, celebrating something special, or simply wanting to feel connected to something deeper. Each piece is created with intention, symbolism, and top-quality materials. The proceeds go to the creation and donation of grief comfort kits through Olivia’s Healing Paws. What sets my work apart is that it’s not just jewelry, and it’s not just a non-profit. It’s a bridge between the two. Every piece has a purpose, and every purchase directly contributes to someone else during one of the most difficult moments of their life. I’m most proud of turning something painful into something that brings comfort to others. What started as a personal way to cope has bloomed into something that allows me to give back in a meaningful, tangible way. The most important thing I want people to know is that this brand is built on real experience, real emotion, and real intention. Nothing is created just to be sold. It’s created to mean something. To remind people that they aren’t alone, and even in the hardest of moments, there can still be connection, purpose, and love that continues.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience, for me, wasn’t a conscious choice I made. It was something I had to learn over time. It’s also something I had been learning throughout my life experiences, growing through challenges and slowly building the ability to keep going even when life felt overwhelming. The night I lost Olivia, I truly didn’t know if I could exist on my own. I went from holding her in my arms to walking out of the vet without her. She was my strength and steady presence while I battled my way out of depression, and suddenly she was gone. What stands out to me now is not how I “bounced back,” but how I kept going. I took everything one moment at a time while feeling this almost inexplicable strength and independence that I hadn’t experienced before and, honestly, haven’t felt since that December. Resilience started to show up in the smallest ways. Finding ways to honor her. Allowing myself to feel everything instead of pushing it away, and eventually creating something meaningful out of that experience. If there’s one thing that my experience has taught me, it’s that resilience doesn’t always look strong and put together. Sometimes, it looks like taking the most painful moment of your life, focusing on the smallest moments that hold meaning, and slowly turning that into something that helps someone else feel a little less alone.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of my favorite moments wasn’t a big marketing campaign; it was something much more personal. At a local event, I created a Rainbow Bridge memorial wall where people could write their pet’s name on a pink memorial tag and leave it behind. It was meant to be a way to honor them, but it became something much bigger than I expected. My coworker and one of my most helpful volunteers, Chelsea, shared a perspective that really stayed with me. She said I wasn’t just helping people through the comfort kits, but through the Rainbow Bridge itself. I began to notice it more. Some people would walk up hesitantly, holding themselves back because they didn’t want to cry. But with gentle support and reassurance, they would choose to write their pet’s name anyway. In that moment, they allowed themselves to feel something they had been holding in. It became more than a booth selling jewelry. It became a space where people could honor their pet and release emotions they hadn’t fully processed. This year, people came back looking for the tags they had left the year before. Watching someone find their pet’s name still there, still remembered, is something I will never forget and will always cherish. It wasn’t about a sale. It was about connection. The Rainbow Bridge is a reminder that what I’m building goes beyond products. It’s about creating spaces where people feel safe to remember, to feel, and to heal. This year, I even brought my dog, Poppy, with me and took a photo with her in front of the Rainbow Bridge- a quiet reminder that love and healing can exist at the same time.
