We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Red Hill NH. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Red Hill below.
Red Hill, appreciate you joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
One meaningful moment for us came at a farmer’s market when a mother sought us out after purchasing from us the year before. She had driven over an hour just to find our booth and share her experience. Her child struggles with eczema, and she shared that our soaps and lotions were the only products that didn’t trigger a flare.
What made it especially touching was that, because of our playful soap designs, bath time had gone from something stressful to something her child actually looked forward to. Hearing that something we created not only helped with a physical sensitivity but also brought a little joy and ease into their daily routine—really stayed with us.
Moments like that remind us that what we’re making isn’t just soap. It’s comfort, joy, and a small but meaningful part of someone’s well-being because we believe that selfcare is healthcare.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are Red Hill NH Suds & Skincare—a slow-crafted, handcrafted, and wild-inspired multigeneration family of hobbyists creating artistic, giftable vegan soaps and nourishing natural skincare like salves, lotion bars, botanical hair care, and facial serums. Nestled in the mountains of New Hampshire, our work is deeply rooted in place, process, and purpose.
Nature is our greatest collaborator. Its textures, seasons, and color stories guide our bespoke soap designs, where each bar is thoughtfully composed as both functional skincare and usable art. We specialize in custom, small-batch creations that celebrate nature’s palette while honoring the hands-on craft of traditional soapmaking.
Red Hill’s home-based soap artistry began during the pandemic, when soapmaking became both a creative outlet and a grounding ritual. With over 40 years of experience in healthcare —and lived experience managing allergies and autoimmune conditions that affect the skin—our co-founder began formulating her own skincare drawing on a background in natural medicine and herbalism, rooted in chemistry and science.
Our soaps are vegan, cruelty-free, and crafted with ethically sourced ingredients. Each design is released in limited batches, with new collections launching quarterly. Our popular Quarterly SOAPscription allows customers to either pick-their-own or enjoy a curated surprise delivered to their door. Products are available nationwide via our website and at local markets. Red Hill NH also offers custom soap design for retail shops, corporate events, golf tournaments, Airbnbs, and special occasions such as weddings and baby showers. With the ability to tailor formulations to accommodate allergies, scent, and visual preferences, our philosophy is simple: every body deserves to be showered in JOY!
We believe in creating wellness with intention. Every bar and jar we make reflects our mission to nurture you from the outside in™ offering natural, anti-ageism beauty, care, and integrity in equal measure.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience, for me, has meant learning how to adapt without losing the joy in what I do. As someone managing chronic health challenges, including vision loss and ongoing eye procedures, there was a moment when I thought I might have to step away from soapmaking altogether. Cold process soap is both an art form and a precise chemical process that requires strong visual focus and attention to safety.
Instead of giving it up, I reimagined myself and the process. I redesigned the physical makerspace to better support the changes I was experiencing, adjusted how I develop and visualize designs to be screen-free, and allowed myself the flexibility to stop when needed.
While many small businesses aim to scale up, we made the intentional decision to scale down. By focusing on bespoke, small-batch custom creations, I’ve been able to continue my artistry in a way that honors both my health and my creativity—while still offering thoughtful, high-quality experiences for our customers.
That shift taught me that resilience isn’t about pushing through at all costs—it’s about evolving with purpose.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
For us it has been genuinely living what we create—walking the walk. At its core, we’re selling self-care, but many of our customers are natural caregivers who put themselves last. They’ll buy a beautiful soap as a gift, but hesitate to use it themselves because it’s “too pretty to use.”
By modeling natural, everyday self-care alongside them, we gently shift that mindset. We didn’t hide growing out our gray hair, we flaunt it. We don’t use filters on our videos or professional models- we feature our own naturally ageing skin. because we love the skin we are in. We encourage our customers to take up space, embrace anti-ageism, and see wellness as something they deserve—not something reserved for others. Our motto- Go ahead, use the fancy soap—you’re worth it!
