Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebecca Connet. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebecca , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
We, my husband and I, took a risk to start a hemp farm in 2019. It has been an arduous task. We are constantly being hit with road blocks. The current one is the Hemp prohibition that was passed inside the big beautiful bill. Sneaky politicians put many companies is the USA into a year moratorium. Come November this year, Hemp could possibly be banned again in the USA. This is unfathomable considering 75% or more Americans are for the legalization of Hemp. The medicine that Hemp provides is undoubtably beneficial. If it wasn’t I would have folded our business years ago.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We decided to start a Hemp business following my husbands retirement. He is a Freestyle Motocross rider. We wanted to help the many people suffering from pain with a different alternative to the highly addictive opioids. Darin, my husband, has a green thumb. He enjoys gardening. We took a chance and bought the land to grow our first Hemp crop. He did well in 2019. We took special care in selecting genetics and using organic farming techniques. We started with tinctures, then our line slowly grew from there. We partnered with a pharmacist and a physician to help us understand how well products marry with others to create the best benefits for ours bodies. We have been hit with many obstacles. This has been a great benefit to us pivoting the business to stay relevant. We are now into private labeling and manufacturing for multiple small businesses, You can check them out on our website. The partnerships with our customers has been vital to our business model. We want to be able to help as many patients as possible, from all walks of life. What makes us stand out is that we truly care about the human being as a whole. We are not here to sell gimmicks. We will sacrifice dollars in name of good health.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
We manufacture our own products. Our lab is in Inverness. We did not know how to manufacture products. We gained our confidence from our pharmacist. He helped foster an environment of a “can do’ attitude. When there is a need – fill it. I have been able to go out and let health professionals know we can help them with their our line of products, if they so choose. We have had a few friends introduce us to professionals in the health care space as well. We are grateful for every customer and every referral that we are able to work with.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My husband and I have funded our business personally. We took on a good family friend with a small investment. We were most interested in his mind and ability to help us with machines as needed. My main job is in finance and helping small businesses grow and maintain their companies. I have watched the greed from investors, shareholders and partners, no thanks. My philosophy is, If we cannot fund this venture on our own, we should not be tsking the risk to start it.
