We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ray Sherman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes a willingness to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. I know that in my industry there are many people calling themselves photographers but few actually know professional lighting or have training.
Ray, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Pro Photographer for over 30 years shooting fashion, lifestyle and product photography. I went to school in NYC at Center for the Media Arts and School of Visual Arts. I have many years of experience and use my skills at the highest level.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When digital photography came in to play I pivotes from doing Weddings to doing commercial photography. Many people were becoming photographers at this point in time but few knew how to use studio lighting at a high level.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As I said I went from shooting weddings to setting up studios in companies to shoot their products to sell on the internet.
