We recently connected with Ray Foreman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ray , thanks for joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Wow, when I look back at it the very first dollar I made as a creative was doing doing background work when I first moved to Los Angeles. I knew I wanted to be an actor and get into the industry but being brand new to the city at the time I had no idea where to start and how to network. I had finally booked a background role on this little tv show and after being on set and meeting all the people that enjoy the craft as much as you do, I fell in love with it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
So I am a producer at For Us By Us Network and what I do essentially is help creative movies, tv shows and reality tv. As a producer you you have to solve all types of problems from locations, actors budgeting etc basically all the beyond the camera stuff tat keeps the production moving. What I am most proud of is how far I came, when I moved out here I came with nothing but a few dollars and a dream and turned that into the life that I have now. What I would tell potential clients/followers/fans about me is my hustle is relentless, I truly believe in the phase “never give up” and I apply that in everything I do, especially in my craft.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing my work or things I worked on come to life. To see all that hard work and dedication in its final form ready for the audience to enjoy. When you’re on set the days are long, like 12 hours long and you see everybody going there hardest everyday, so to finally be able to present it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The biggest pivot for me was going from playing college basketball to being an actor/producer. I know it sounds crazy but before anything I wanted to be in the NBA, but as I was in college figuring out that that wasn’t going to happen I had to make some hard decisions about what I wanted to do with my life. Ultimately I choose another childhood passion of mine and decide to go at it full force.
