Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raquel Arnette. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raquel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started you own firm sooner?
I’ve been a photographer and videographer for over 15 years now, and looking back, I sometimes do wish I had fully committed to this artistic path sooner. After college, I found myself drawn more toward corporate jobs—payroll, administration, tech coding—but my creative side was always there, waiting for its moment. While I loved the structure of those roles, photography and videography were my true passions.
My journey as a professional photographer really took off when I began covering events like New York Fashion Week, the Billboard Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, Celebrity Boxing, WNBA LV Aces, and the Grammys. Over time, this evolved into running RA ImageZ LLC, where I specialize in event, portrait, and fashion photography, as well as branding for small businesses. Working with celebrities, politicians, and major public figures like Former President Barack Obama, Denzel Washington, Jermaine Dupri, Jake Paul, Coolio, Floyd Mayweather, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and VP Kamala Harris has been incredible.
If I had started sooner, I think I could have grown my business faster and perhaps covered even more iconic events earlier in my career. However, my experience in corporate environments taught me organization, management, and professionalism, all of which are now core strengths in my creative work.
Starting later may have provided more financial security initially, but I would have missed the wealth of experiences and connections I’ve built over the years. RA ImageZ wouldn’t be what it is today without those years of learning, adapting, and diving into both the artistic and business sides of the industry.
Ultimately, while part of me wishes I had pursued photography immediately after college, I appreciate how my path unfolded. The skills, discipline, and insights from my corporate background now give me an edge in the media and entertainment world. I’m still pushing to balance my artistic work with the drive to grow in the corporate space, but photography and videography remain my heartbeat, and I’m excited about where it continues to take me.

Raquel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Raquel Arnette, and I am the founder of RA ImageZ LLC. For over 15 years, I’ve been dedicated to capturing moments that matter through photography and videography. My path into this field wasn’t a straight one. After college, I pursued corporate roles in payroll, administration, and tech coding. While those jobs provided structure and stability, my creative side was always calling. Eventually, I listened and turned my passion for storytelling and visuals into a profession.
With RA ImageZ LLC, I specialize in three core areas:
• Event Photography & Videography – I’ve covered everything from major public events like New York Fashion Week, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Grammys, to more personal, intimate gatherings.
• Portrait & Fashion Photography – I love capturing the unique essence of people, whether it’s for personal branding, editorial projects, or creative shoots.
• Business & Product Branding – I help small businesses visually tell their stories, creating content that showcases their products or services in engaging and dynamic ways.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with high-profile figures, and documenting significant moments in entertainment, politics, and social movements. My experience extends beyond photography and videography—I’m also a social media influencer, with a community of over 50,000 followers across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, and Facebook. My mission is to create authentic and compelling visual narratives that truly resonate.
What makes RA ImageZ LLC unique is my ability to combine creativity with organizational precision. My years in corporate management taught me skills in logistics, communication, and professionalism, which I now bring to every project. I’m not just taking photos; I’m helping clients tell their stories, build their brands, and preserve meaningful memories.
I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me. Whether I’m capturing behind-the-scenes moments for a celebrity, documenting a major event, or helping a small business define its visual identity, I approach each project with passion, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.
For me, RA ImageZ LLC is more than just a business—it’s about creating stories that connect, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building RA ImageZ LLC on social media and YouTube has been a journey of creativity, strategy, and consistency. My background as a photographer and videographer gave me the skills to create engaging visual content, but growing an audience meant learning how to present that content in ways that captured attention and sparked curiosity. Over time, I developed techniques that helped me gain over 50,000 followers across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Here’s how I did it, and some advice for those looking to grow their own social media presence.
Timing and Consistency
One of the most crucial factors in growing RA ImageZ on social media was understanding timing. Each platform has peak hours when users are most active, and posting during these windows can significantly boost engagement. For example:
• TikTok: I found that posting early in the morning (7-9 AM) and late at night (9-11 PM) works well because people scroll during their morning routine or unwind in the evening.
• Instagram: Engagement tends to spike around lunchtime (11 AM-1 PM) and evenings (6-9 PM). I also used Instagram Stories and Reels consistently to stay visible to my followers.
• Twitter: This platform moves quickly, so posting updates, behind-the-scenes shots, and quick thoughts during peak hours (8-10 AM and 5-7 PM) kept my content in people’s feeds.
• YouTube: I focused on uploading videos on Tuesdays and Thursdays around 4-5 PM. This allowed me to capture viewers after their school or workday.
Consistency was key. Posting regularly kept my content in front of people and helped the algorithms favor my work. Whether it was daily on TikTok or three times a week on YouTube, staying consistent helped build momentum.
Editing Videos for Maximum Engagement
Creating eye-catching videos is about grabbing attention immediately. On social media, the first few seconds are critical. For each platform, I developed specific editing techniques to keep viewers engaged:
• Strong Hooks: I always opened my videos with a compelling question, an exciting clip, or a bold statement to make people stop scrolling.
• Fast-Paced Cuts: Short attention spans mean quick edits. I made sure to cut out any unnecessary pauses and kept my clips moving at a fast pace.
• Captions and Text Overlays: Many users watch videos without sound, so I used captions and on-screen text to convey the message clearly. This also made my content accessible to a wider audience.
• Music and Sound Effects: Adding trending sounds or music to my videos on TikTok and Instagram helped them get discovered by more users. The right soundtrack can set the mood and boost engagement.
• Creative Visuals: I experimented with transitions, effects, and color grading to make each video feel unique. Creativity in editing helped distinguish my work from others.
Creativity and Storytelling
In a world saturated with content, being creative with each image and video helped RA ImageZ stand out. I focused on storytelling—whether it was covering an event, showcasing a photoshoot, or sharing a behind-the-scenes moment. Each post had a purpose and told a story.
I also embraced trends and challenges on platforms like TikTok and Instagram but made sure to add my own creative twist. This balance between following trends and staying authentic attracted people who appreciated both creativity and originality.
Techniques for Growing on Social Media
For anyone looking to grow their social media presence, here are some strategies that worked for me:
1. Engage With Your Audience: Respond to comments, ask questions in captions, and interact with other creators. Building a community helps foster loyalty.
2. Use Hashtags Strategically: Research trending and niche hashtags relevant to your content. This helps your posts reach the right audience.
3. Leverage Trends: Stay aware of trending audio, challenges, and themes, but always add your unique style to stand out.
4. High-Quality Content: Even on fast-paced platforms like TikTok, quality matters. Clear visuals, good lighting, and clean edits make a big difference.
5. Cross-Promote: Share your content across different platforms. For example, I’d share my TikTok videos on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts to maximize reach.
6. Educate and Entertain: Whether offering photography tips, behind-the-scenes looks, or entertaining stories, make sure your content provides value.
7. Analytics and Adaptation: Regularly check insights to understand what type of content resonates with your audience and adjust accordingly.
My Journey and Advice
When I started sharing my photography and videography work on social media, I wasn’t sure where it would lead. But by consistently posting, engaging with my audience, and staying true to my creative vision, I grew my following and attracted clients who valued my work.
For those just starting out, remember:
• Stay Consistent: Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Keep posting and improving.
• Be Authentic: Share your unique perspective. Authenticity attracts genuine followers.
• Experiment: Try different types of content and see what works best. Don’t be afraid to get creative.
• Enjoy the Process: Social media is a tool, but it should also be fun. Let your passion shine through, and people will notice.
Growing RA ImageZ on social media has been a rewarding experience. It’s allowed me to share my passion with a larger audience, connect with incredible people, and expand my business. With creativity, consistency, and the right strategies, anyone can grow their presence and make an impact.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Knowledge is power when it comes to being creative, especially in photography and videography. At RA ImageZ LLC, I’ve found that combining a creative mindset with an open mind is crucial for producing content that truly resonates with clients and their audiences. When I work on photos and videos for products and brands, I always strive to incorporate the client’s vision. Understanding what they want to achieve and the story they want to tell helps me create visuals that feel authentic and impactful.
Staying inspired and continuously learning is key to keeping creativity fresh. I’ve found that reading books, watching YouTube tutorials, attending workshops, and participating in forums introduce me to new techniques and expand my creative perspective. These resources not only refine my technical skills but also open my mind to new ideas and concepts that help set my work apart. Being open to learning is what keeps me evolving, and that continuous growth is a cornerstone of my success.
Growing a successful photography and videography business isn’t just about taking great shots—it’s about understanding the business side, too. When I first started out, I realized the importance of networking. Joining professional groups, attending industry events, and collaborating with other creatives allowed me to build relationships, exchange ideas, and discover new opportunities. I’ve learned to always bring business cards or have digital contact information ready to share because you never know when a conversation might lead to your next client or partnership. Every connection matters, and networking has been one of the key drivers in building RA ImageZ LLC.
I’ve also learned to leverage every resource available. Friends, family, and local small businesses have all played a role in my journey. Offering to capture their events, products, or branding in exchange for testimonials or portfolio work helped me build credibility and gain valuable experience. Word-of-mouth referrals from these early connections proved incredibly powerful. Each successful project created a ripple effect, bringing in new opportunities and expanding my client base.
At RA ImageZ LLC, the best content comes from collaboration and understanding my clients’ input. I believe in a client-centric approach where their goals, vision, and expectations drive the creative process. Before each project, I make it a point to sit down and have detailed discussions to ensure we’re on the same page. Whether it’s a product shoot, event coverage, or a branding video, tailoring the process to the client’s specific needs consistently leads to better outcomes and happier clients.
Over time, I’ve developed strategies that have helped me grow RA ImageZ LLC. First, I constantly update my portfolio with a range of work to show versatility and consistency in my style. This helps potential clients see what I can offer. Social media has been another crucial tool. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube have allowed me to share my work, post behind-the-scenes content, and tell stories through visuals. Consistency in posting and engaging with my audience has attracted more clients and followers.
I also maintain a clean, professional website where potential clients can view my portfolio, learn about my services, and easily contact me. Optimizing my website and social media with SEO and keywords ensures people can find me when they’re searching for photography and videography services. Sharing client testimonials has built trust and given new clients confidence in my work. Most importantly, I invest in continuous learning. Taking courses, attending industry conferences, and staying up-to-date with trends and new technology keeps me ahead of the game.
The journey of growing RA ImageZ LLC has taught me that creativity and business acumen are deeply interconnected. By keeping an open mind, continuously learning, networking, and putting my clients’ vision at the forefront, I’ve been able to create meaningful work and build lasting relationships. Success in photography and videography isn’t just about capturing beautiful images; it’s about telling stories, solving problems, and connecting with people through my craft. Every image and video I create is more than just a product—it’s a piece of a larger story that I’m honored to help tell.
