Ramona, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I started painting over 20 years ago back in Germany. When my family and I moved to California in 2011, life got busy, and my artistic journey took a pause. It wasn’t until the pandemic hit that I reconnected with painting in 2020. By early 2021, the realization struck me – it just felt right to turn this passion into my profession

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m Ramona Stelzer an artist whose brushstrokes weave the tales of human experiences into vibrant, large abstract floral paintings in acrylics. My artistic journey took a transformative turn during the pandemic, reigniting a lifelong passion that had been temporarily came to a hold by my successful career as a hairstylist. Having spent a significant part of my life as a stylist, I understand the intimate connection formed while hearing the life stories of those in my chair. The joys and struggles shared with me became the emotional palette for my art. Each floral painting I create reflects the intricate human narratives, embracing both the tears shed in life’s challenges and the resplendent beauty found within those very experiences.
My background as an adult growing up with an alcoholic parent shapes the subtle layers in my work. While some stories are too difficult to articulate, what remains evident is the underlying theme of hope and resilience. I don’t seek pity but rather aim to convey that, regardless of life’s trials, there’s enduring hope, and the journey is worth every step.
In my florals, you’ll discover the beauty of human diversity, mirroring the fragility and strength that coexist within us. Like flowers, we are beautiful, resilient, and powerful beings, capable of blooming even in the face of adversity. For me, my creative journey is a heartfelt mission. It’s about infusing my paintings with the essence of hope, resilience, and the beauty found in the messiness of life. When I pick up my brush, I want to create more than just art—I want to craft stories that connect with people on a deep, emotional level. Life is complex, and my experiences have taught me the power of resilience and the importance of finding beauty amid challenges. Through my abstract florals, I aim to share this message—that, like flowers, we have this incredible ability to bloom, no matter what life throws our way.
In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, my goal is simple: to be a source of positivity. I want my art to be a reminder that, despite the chaos, there’s always room for hope and beauty. Each canvas becomes a visual journey, telling stories of strength and celebrating the diverse tapestry of the human experience.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect about being an artist for me is the incredible connection I build with people through my art. It’s just magical to see how my paintings touch others, stirring up feelings and thoughts that resonate on a deep level. When someone connects with my work, it’s like we’re sharing a piece of our souls. I find immense joy in knowing that my art can bring joy, hope, comfort, or a moment of reflection to someone’s day.
Expressing my inner thoughts and emotions through painting is not just an artistic outlet; it’s downright therapeutic. It’s a process that lets me share my stories and creates a space where others can find their own moments of peace and inspiration.
