We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rahquan Saunders a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rahquan , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed.
I come from a struggling family i’ve watched my mother struggle all her life my purpose was to help her once I got a job you know no one wants to see their mother struggle I was young when you’re a teenager most teens worry about school I was worried about what we’re going to eat tonight fast forward it lead to being in a shelter we hit rock bottom one of the lowest points of my life i’ve had plenty i’m used to things not going my way that’s the world I live in people we’ve helped closed their doors on us family and friends that moment showed me it made me stronger than ever

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
i’m solar i’m a music artist based in new york city I started creating music when I was about 16 in high school with a group of friends lol we was sort of like a wu tang odd future type group of talented individuals that’s how I was able to a style being inspired by my friends we were called MOST HIGH that’s moments i’d never forget man lol and I picked up on singing from my mother she sung in a choir growing up it’s crazy how talent passes on, with the music industry it’s a cold game man I failed a lot and I wasted thousands but I don’t even think about that i’m obsessed with it what separates me from the others is that I move with LOVE it’s rare it’s a dog eat dog game but with all my musically friends it’s all about the love of the craft cause honestly without music i’d probably would’ve killed myself a long time ago I live for this I literally think about it every day is creating I could careless about fame and money, what i’m most proud of is my album Sixteen Candles truly a great accomplishment for me it’s my first time doing 80s pop a different genre for me and I got into character development i’m really proud of it I dropped it in 2022 and i’m still promoting it till this day when people come across it they just fall in love with it i’m happy to have gotten that album I always wanted that especially since i’m still up and coming you know

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
i’m a good dude man I do good business I always wanted to have that character well respected and hardworking my reputation is everything it’s so much people doing bad business out here and sometimes it’s your peers the people with all the followers it’s crazy man but I could never I got to much love for this and my peoples

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
performances definitely the right shows definitely help just by standing out and with visiting other counties with a dope music scene like london I went out there and the love was massive can’t wait till I go back I think the overseas thing may work
