We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachelle Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rachelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear from you about what you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry and why it matters.
I think most people see a small business and immediately think of ways to scale the company overnight. Whether it’s finding ways to lower production costs by working with factories overseas, opening distribution to big box retailers, and over producing without taking into consideration that some small businesses want just that. a small business.
As entrepreneurs it is so important to be laser focused on what your intentions are and create a business strategy that works for you and your company. For us here at Byrdie Golf that means working with domestic factories. and creating sustainable small batch production with zero waste. We are growing and evolving with our clients and at a rate that makes sense for us!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Byrdie Golf Social Wear was born from golden hour golf cart rides with our grandmothers, learning life’s lessons through the game of golf. The most important lesson that we learned over the years, and have put into practice, is to never compromise your personal style for any occasion. Our mission is to bridge the gap between modern fashion and performance while paying homage to the sophistication and style of our matriarchs’ wardrobes. Through Byrdie Golf we hope to not only reintroduce personal style back to the game of golf, but also celebrate a new generation of women who bring friendships, cocktails, and legacies to the 19th hole.
Amongst the many life lessons passed down is the quality and fit of a garment. We source the finest fabric for both your afternoon tee-time and sundowner cocktail hour. As women who frequent both, we are certain that each piece of Byrdie Golf clothing will make you feel both comfortable and confident transitioning throughout your day.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The height of the COVID-19 pandemic created “come to Jesus” moments for many of us. Before the launch of Byrdie Golf Social Wear both Hayden and I were working for other fashion companies. The pandemic created a lot of unknown between layoffs, and furloughs which created uncertainty for so many. It was during that time that we knew we wanted to be responsible for our own destiny and did not want someone else calling the shots in our lives or careers. March 2020 we put pen to paper and haven’t looked back ever since!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
You will often find that women’s golf clothing companies are owned, designed, and produced by men. We made it our mission to change that. By working closely with female golfers, and fashionistas alike we put the women’s wants and needs first when designing each silhouette. As golfers ourselves we were so upset with the offering however it seemed like no one was taking the initiative to change that, which is why we took matters into our own hands. We like to think a large portion of our success is owed to the fact that we have connected and taken the time to hear what the modern female golfer wants and needs!
