We recently connected with Rachel Wager and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Unfortunately, both my parents have passed away. This makes this question bittersweet. My mom fought ovarian cancer for 6 years before she gained her angel wings. She was SO strong, resilient, funny, kind. She taught me how to be strong, especially in dark times. She taught me how to make the best of life and try to find the light in dark situations/times in life. My dad had many health issues over his lifetime, especially the last few years of his life. He always kept his sense of humor, and always kept it real. He taught me that life is never going to be easy on anyone and it is how you choose to handle the situations that life throws at you. You can choose to either do something about it, or not and suffer the consequences. My parents taught me so much in life while they were here, and that is what they did right. They gave me memories, and wisdom to carry me through my entire life.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Photography started as a fun thing to do. I started taking pictures with my iPhone for a few years and then that is when I realized I actually really loved it. That is when I got my professional camera and started taking fine art photography. I will do anything to get the perfect shot/angle. Once I have an image in my head, I have to keep shooting until I see that reflected on my camera.
Esthetics I always had a passion for. Skincare, skincare treatments, you name it, I was always trying and doing new things. I went to college and earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and after working with that for 2 years. I was regretting not going to school for esthetics. That is when my husband (fiance at the time) convinced me that I should go back to school and do an esthetics program. I am SO happy I did. I work at a medspa now and doing what I love.
Both photography and esthetics is my passion. I love them both so much.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I would say just the happiness I make others, whether it is a person buying art for their home/office, or a client who loves how their skin looks after a facial treatment. I love being a creative/artist because it fills my cup up, and I can show my personality come through with the work I do.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
With my photography instagram I had to just keep creating content constantly and eventually I got more followers as time went on. I just started my esthetics instagram and so that is a work in progress. I just need to stick with it and not go so long in between posts. You have to put the work in to reach the audience and the audience you want and that can relate to you. It is a process and there is no rushing it.
