We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachel Trissel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachel below.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Family businesses are unique in their ability to embody a legacy of values, like community and collaboration. This shared foundation fosters a strong workplace culture where everyone is dedicated to the mission. However, balancing family dynamics with professional responsibilities can be challenging; I often find myself juggling my roles as a mom and a business owner.
I hope my son will choose to join the business one day, as I believe it can teach him invaluable lessons about entrepreneurship and community engagement. Witnessing the positive impact our family business has on the local community reinforces my commitment to giving back. Ultimately, while the journey can be tough, the opportunity to leave a legacy for future generations makes it profoundly rewarding.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an artist with a lifelong passion for creative expression, sparked by my experience as a competitive dancer and my fascination with costume design. After becoming a mother, I sought to create a path that allowed me to attend every school event and extracurricular activity, which led to the founding of Fancy Funfetti.
At Fancy Funfetti, I craft one-of-a-kind accessories for both children and adults, transforming wearable art into joyful gifts that families cherish. My offerings are inspired by my childhood, pop culture, and the ever-changing world around us, ensuring that each collection is unique with limited runs. This approach fosters a strong connection with my customers, many of whom return for more.
A proud moment in my journey was being honored as a Women-Owned Business during a Miami Heat basketball game, a full-circle experience that harkened back to my childhood dreams. Above all, I aim to create loving connections through my art, making each piece a celebration of creativity and community.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One significant pivot in my journey occurred when I moved from South Florida to Central Florida. This transition brought about the challenge of relocating all my equipment and establishing new connections in a different community. Recognizing the need to adapt, I decided to immerse myself in the local scene by participating in in-person vendor events.
To facilitate this change, I joined business membership groups and actively networked, which allowed me to build relationships and promote my brand in this new environment. A year later, those efforts paid off, leading to new opportunities and growth for my business. This experience taught me the importance of adaptability and the value of community connections in navigating change.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation in the market has been built on several key principles. First and foremost, showing up consistently and maintaining clear communication with my clients has been crucial. I prioritize delivering top-of-the-line, high-quality experiences, which has led to positive feedback and a loyal customer base who genuinely love my products.
Engaging with my community through in-person events and donating time and product has also been instrumental in fostering relationships and showcasing my commitment to giving back. Networking is vital; I’ve found that building connections within my industry has opened doors and created valuable opportunities.
Additionally, I have always maintained a consistent vibe throughout my collections, ensuring that everything I create feels like it belongs together. This consistency reinforces my brand identity, making it recognizable and trustworthy. Ultimately, community involvement is everything to me, and it has played a significant role in shaping my reputation.
