Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Qwatisha Atkins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Qwatisha, thanks for joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes ! Being a business owner has definitely made me happier because it gives me freedom to create something that’s mine. I get to turn my ideas into reality, set my own goals, and build something that can create a better future for my family.
That being said, there are times when I think about what it would be like to have a regular job. The last time I had that thought was during a slow week when sales weren’t coming in the way I hoped. I was sitting at home looking over my expenses, thinking about ingredients I needed to buy and bills that still had to be paid. Seeing people with steady paychecks made me wonder if life would be easier if I clocked in somewhere, worked my shift, and knew exactly what I would earn every week.
As I thought about it more, I realized that every path has challenges. A regular job offers stability, but owning a business gives me the opportunity to build something bigger than a paycheck. I reminded myself why I started in the first place and how far I’ve come. The experience taught me that it’s normal for entrepreneurs to question their path sometimes, especially during difficult seasons. My conclusion was that while I may consider a regular job from time to time, I still believe in the vision for my business and the possibilities that come with continuing to grow it.

Qwatisha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Qwatisha Atkins, and I am the founder and owner of Qwa’lity Sweets. I am an entrepreneur with a passion for creating delicious homemade desserts and bringing people together through food. What started as a love for baking grew into a business that has allowed me to serve my community while pursuing my dream of building a successful brand.
I entered the food industry because I genuinely enjoy creating products that make people happy. Over the years, I have worked hard to develop a menu that reflects both quality and creativity. At Qwa’lity Sweets, we offer a variety of homemade desserts, including cheesecakes, cheesecake bars, specialty treats, and other sweet creations. We have also expanded into prepared food offerings, providing customers with flavorful, affordable meal options.
One of the problems I solve for my customers is providing homemade, high-quality food and desserts that feel personal and memorable. Whether someone is celebrating a special occasion, satisfying a sweet craving, or simply looking for a great meal, I want them to know they are receiving products made with care, attention to detail, and genuine appreciation for their support.
What sets my business apart is the personal touch behind everything I create. I believe in consistency, quality, and building real relationships with my customers. Every order is an opportunity to make someone’s day a little better. My brand is built on the idea that great food should not only taste good but also create lasting memories.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey of consistency, authenticity, and staying connected with my community. As the owner of Qwa’lity Sweets, I started by sharing my passion for homemade desserts, behind-the-scenes content, and the day-to-day realities of running a small business. Over time, people began to connect not only with my products but also with my story, work ethic, and commitment to quality.
I focused on showing up consistently, engaging with followers, responding to comments and messages, and creating content that showcased what makes my business unique. Word-of-mouth, customer reviews, and sharing genuine moments helped my audience grow organically.
For anyone just starting to build a social media presence, my biggest advice is to be patient and stay consistent. Don’t worry about having thousands of followers right away. Focus on providing value, being authentic, and building real relationships with your audience. Post regularly, interact with people, and don’t be afraid to share your journey—the successes, challenges, and lessons learned along the way. The audience will come when people see your passion and dedication.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation was built through consistency, quality, and genuine customer service. From the beginning, I made it a priority to provide high-quality products and ensure that every customer had a positive experience. Whether it was a small order or a large event, I approached each opportunity with the same level of care and attention to detail.
Word-of-mouth referrals have played a major role in my growth. Customers who enjoyed my products shared their experiences with family and friends, which helped build trust within the community. I also believe that being dependable, maintaining open communication, and continuously improving my craft have contributed to the reputation I’ve built.
Most importantly, I strive to create more than just products—I aim to create an experience that keeps customers coming back and encourages them to recommend my business to others. I’m especially proud that many of my customers have supported my business for years and continue to trust me for their special occasions and dessert needs. That loyalty means a lot to me and motivates me to keep delivering my best.
