We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Quintin Neal. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Quintin below.
Quintin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Growing up I always created art and drawings as a child. Art is my creative outlet that allows me freedom to be who I am. My favorite subject in school was art and anything creative. If there was a art club, I was in it and became the art club president.
I knew I wanted to be in the arts when I got to high school and met Ms. Morris, my art teacher at James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC.
I come from a long line of educators that help shape my career to be a educator. When I got to NCCU (North Carolina Central University) I was able to explore all forms of art and science to further assist with my decision to be a Art Educator.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an educator and a business owner. I love to see students grow and learn in education. I love to explore all forms of art in my classroom because you never know what spark you are planting in a child’s mind. Teaching gives me great joy and laughter.
My first love was oil painting. I feel in love with oil painting in college from my instructors Mr. Hughes and Ms. Beverly Mciver. Both of them added to my passion in the arts.
I knew I had other creative ideas that I wanted to explore and grow into a business. In 2020 I became the owner of Quintin Neal Visual Artist LLC. This business allows me the opportunity flourish in all forms of art and design such as Custom Painting, Jewelry, Door wreaths, Shirt and Logo designs, Interior Design, Wedding Decorator, etc. It is really hard for me to narrow down one specific artistry because they all bring me joy.
I do what I do because it gives me the opportunity to make someone smile. In a world where there is alot of disappointment or sadness, I enjoy using my gift as a tool to make someone else happy. I believe everyone has a gift and whatever that gift you are given it is important to reach back and help, encourage, motivate and share what makes each of us unique.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is to share my gift with others. Seeing someone else smile or love a product that I have created Let me know that my gift Is still valid. Helping others in any situation find freedom and peace through my work is very important.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can continue to grow our youth In the arts. The arts are very important especially for people who need an outlet and understand that their voice can be heard through their gift.
