We recently connected with Penny and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Penny , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The current music im producing under “AdamSeed” has been and will be my most meaningful project yet. The past 2 years, I decided to completely transition my path that ive been on within my music journey. Up till that point, I was an independent hip hop artist with 4 solo released albums. When I was younger, my first introduction to music was rock and metal. My brother, who i looked up to more than anyone, was a musician himself. He exposed me to bands like Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Nirvana, Tool and many more. The way that I identified with the raw emotions that were vividly expressed within this style of music, captivated me and gave me an escape. Music became my therapy at a very young age. Unfortunately, my brother passed away in 2017. The past two years, i made a decision to make a rock album in his honor. I didn’t know what to expect, but I know i had so much to say in a whole new manner creatively. This is how “AdamSeed” was birthed. It has been an amazing journey so far, experimenting with pushing the limits creatively. Not putting myself in a box and placing barriers on what it should sound like or a certain genre. to stay within. Intentionally coloring outside of the lines.

Penny , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Music has always been a passion for me since i was young. An outlet of self expression. My way of interpreting my experience within the world around me. No matter what situation I was in, I was always writing or making music. All of the jobs or hustles I had along the way, were always just financial avenues to create a budget for my art. I remain a student within this industry, and I am always looking for new ways to push myself to get better. Study the greats.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think if I didnt make music, i would go crazy lol. life is nuts, and we all need an outlet. Theres a quote from Trent Reznor that i really resinate with “You can punch a wall or write a song. just as painful either way. but you have something to show for it at the end of the day with a song.”
The process of creating something from scratch, that fully embodies whats inside your soul, is a magical thing. It can be a significant reason someone truly heals in life. I guess thats the path that Im on. Just trying to figure myself out and heal along the way.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist, is when other people tell me that my music made an impact on them. Im truly humbled to know that theres other people out there that can identify with my art. My favorite band is Nine Inch Nails, and from a young age, i truly identified with the emotions Trent Reznor projected in his music. It spoke to me. It helped me heal. He pulled you into his world and showed you his soul. That has always been my goal to attempt to create that same experience.
