We were lucky to catch up with Padon Suber recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Padon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Yes, I’ve been able to earn a livable full-time income from my creative work since 2023. I wouldn’t say the journey was easy, but I also don’t believe any meaningful journey ever is. When I stepped into working full time as an artist and creative professional, I happened to be at a strong peak in business — multiple stage plays, band performances, and consistent creative opportunities kept me busy.
Even with all of that, I’ll admit that my very first day of being fully self-employed was scary. Coming from the corporate world where a paycheck arrives regardless of performance, it was a big mental shift knowing my livelihood now depended directly on my output, discipline, and consistency.
Thankfully, I didn’t walk into it blindly. I took time to prepare and build a foundation before making the leap. Shaping your career from scratch is always equal parts exciting and intimidating, but planning ahead was one of the biggest factors that helped me successfully transition into doing this full time. Looking back, being intentional, strategic, and prepared made all the difference in helping me reach this point in my career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Padon Suber, known professionally as PadonSings — a singer, songwriter, producer, film score composer, and musical director based in Houston. Music has always been more than just something I do; it’s a calling and a space where I’ve found purpose, connection, and identity. Over the years, that passion has allowed me to grow from simply performing to becoming deeply involved in multiple areas of entertainment — from live band performances and stage productions, to studio recording, vocal arranging, and composing original scores for film.
Today, I provide a wide range of creative services including live musical entertainment, music direction for theatrical productions, recording and production work, and original music releases — along with creating cinematic musical experiences through film scoring. Clients and collaborators often come to me because they know they’re getting more than talent — they’re getting someone reliable, intentional, versatile, and committed to excellence. I love being able to take someone’s vision, truly listen, and then bring it to life musically in a way that feels meaningful and emotionally impactful.
One thing I’m especially proud of is that my journey hasn’t just opened doors for me; it has allowed me to create space and opportunities for others as well. Collaboration, mentorship, teamwork, and genuine connection have always been core values in my career. I believe success is bigger when it’s shared.
What I want people to know about my brand is that everything I do is rooted in authenticity, quality, and purpose. Whether someone hears me live, listens to my music, works with me creatively, or experiences a film I’ve scored, my goal is always the same — to leave them with something real, soulful, and impactful

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is creating something that genuinely connects with people. There’s nothing like watching an audience react to a performance, hearing someone say a song helped them through a moment in life, or seeing a production come to life and realizing the music helped shape the emotion of that experience. Knowing that something that started as a thought, a melody, or a feeling in my spirit can impact someone else in a meaningful way is incredibly fulfilling.
I also love the freedom and purpose that comes with creativity. Being an artist allows me to express my faith, my emotions, my culture, and my perspective while still serving others through my gift. Whether I’m performing live, directing music for a production, producing in the studio, or scoring film, I take pride in knowing that my work can inspire, comfort, entertain, and connect people — and that’s something I never take for granted.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey of consistency, authenticity, and connection. When I first started sharing my music online, I focused on being genuine and letting people see the real me — not just the polished final product. I shared performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and little glimpses into my creative process. Over time, I realized that people connect more with the story behind the music than the music alone.
Engagement has also been key. I make it a point to respond to comments, interact with fans, and support other creatives in my community. Social media isn’t just a platform to broadcast your work — it’s a place to build relationships, collaborate, and be part of a larger creative conversation.
For those just starting out, my advice would be: focus on quality over quantity, be consistent, and show up as yourself. Don’t get discouraged by slow growth — genuine connections take time, and social media success isn’t just about numbers, it’s about impact. Most importantly, plan ahead, stay patient, and let your unique voice shine. Your audience will grow when they feel like they know and can relate to you.
