Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Oyindamola Folayan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Oyindamola, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my wedding and event business, Weddings by Oyindre, didn’t come as one big moment—it grew from something I’ve always loved: creating beautiful, meaningful spaces that bring people together.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to celebrations. Whether it was helping friends decorate for birthdays, assisting with family events, or setting up spaces for special gatherings, I naturally found myself paying attention to the details—colors, textures, lighting, and how a space could transform the mood of a moment. I loved seeing the joy on people’s faces when they walked into a room that felt thoughtfully designed just for them.
Over time, I noticed something important Many couples wanted their weddings or celebrations to feel elegant and memorable, but they often felt overwhelmed trying to bring their vision to life. Sometimes the décor didn’t reflect their personalities, or the experience felt rushed and impersonal. I realized there was an opportunity to create something different—an approach that combined intentional design, attention to detail, and a truly personalized experience.
That realization sparked something in me. I began imagining what it would look like to build a business focused on creating moments that feel both luxurious and deeply personal. Not just decorating a room, but designing an atmosphere—one where every detail, from the florals to the focal points, tells part of the couple’s story.
The logic behind starting the business was clear to me. Celebrations like weddings, milestone birthdays, and special events only happen once, and people want them to feel unforgettable. By combining creativity with careful planning and organization, I knew I could help clients enjoy those moments without the stress of managing every detail themselves. What excited me most was the impact. Seeing a bride’s reaction during a room reveal, watching guests walk into a beautifully styled space, or hearing a client say their event looked even better than they imagined—those moments confirmed that this was more than just décor. It was about creating experiences and memories that last long after the event ends.
That passion is what led to the creation of Oyindre events and Weddings by Oyindre. The goal has always been simple: to turn meaningful moments into beautiful, unforgettable experiences through thoughtful design, creativity, and genuine care for the people celebrating them.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Oyin Folayan, and I’m the founder of Oyindre Events & Weddings by Oyindre, a wedding and event décor brand focused on creating elegant, memorable experiences for couples and families celebrating life’s most important moments.
My journey into the event and wedding industry started from a genuine love for celebration and design. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of transforming ordinary spaces into something meaningful and memorable. Early on, I found myself helping friends and family with décor for birthdays, weddings, and special gatherings. I paid attention to the little details—the color palettes, floral arrangements, lighting, and overall atmosphere—and I realized how powerful thoughtful design can be in shaping people’s experiences.
As I continued to help with events, I noticed a common challenge many people faced: they had beautiful ideas and big dreams for their celebrations, but they often felt overwhelmed trying to bring those ideas to life. Between planning, coordinating vendors, and designing the space, it could quickly become stressful. That’s when I realized there was an opportunity for me to step in and provide not just décor, but a complete design experience that allows clients to enjoy their celebrations without worrying about the details.
That realization led me to create Oyindre Events & Weddings by Oyindre
At Oyindre Events & Weddings by Oyindre, we specialize in luxury wedding and event décor, including wedding styling, pre-wedding shoot setups, milestone birthday décor, romantic room reveals, and customized event focal points. Our work focuses on creating visually stunning environments that reflect our clients’ personalities and the significance of the moment they are celebrating. Every event is approached with intention—from the choice of florals and color schemes to the layout and styling that bring the entire concept together.
What sets my brand apart is the level of care and intentionality that goes into every design. I don’t see events as just decorations in a room; I see them as experiences. My goal is always to create an atmosphere that tells a story—something that makes guests pause when they walk in and makes the celebrants feel truly honored and celebrated.
I also believe strongly in attention to detail and personalization. No two events should feel exactly the same because every couple and every celebration is unique. I work closely with clients to understand their vision, their style, and the emotions they want their event to evoke. From there, I curate designs that feel elegant, cohesive, and unforgettable
What I’m most proud of is the reaction clients have when they see their space for the first time. That moment when someone walks into a room and realizes their vision has come to life—or even exceeded their expectations—is incredibly rewarding. It reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.
Beyond the aesthetics, my brand is about trust and experience. I want clients to know that when they work with Weddings by Oyindre, they are working with someone who truly cares about their celebration and who is committed to delivering excellence.
For potential clients, followers, and supporters, the most important thing I want them to know is that my work comes from a place of passion. I genuinely love creating beautiful moments for people. Whether it’s a wedding, a romantic room reveal, a milestone birthday, or a pre-wedding shoot, my mission is to transform each event into a space where memories are made and joy is felt.
At the heart of Oyindre Events & Weddings by Oyindre is a simple belief: life’s most meaningful moments deserve to be celebrated beautifully.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One moment in my journey that truly tested my resilience happened early in my event business when I was responsible for delivering décor for an important celebration. Like many entrepreneurs at the beginning of their journey, I was still building my systems, my team, and my confidence as a business owner.
A few days before the event, several unexpected challenges came up at once. Some décor items I had planned to use were delayed, a few logistics didn’t go as planned, and the timeline suddenly became much tighter than expected. I remember feeling the pressure because when someone trusts you with their special day, there’s no room for excuses. The expectation is that everything will come together beautifully.
Instead of allowing the stress to take over, I focused on solutions. I worked late hours adjusting the design plan, sourcing alternative materials, and reorganizing the setup strategy so the overall vision would still come to life the way the client imagined. It required creativity, patience, and a lot of determination to make sure nothing about the experience felt rushed or compromised.
On the day of the event, when the room was finally revealed, the client’s reaction made every challenge worth it. They were excited, emotional, and genuinely happy with how everything turned out. In that moment, I realized that resilience in this industry isn’t just about handling pressure—it’s about staying committed to the outcome even when things don’t go exactly as planned.
That experience strengthened my confidence as an event designer and business owner. It taught me that challenges will always come, especially in creative and service-based businesses, but what matters most is the ability to adapt, stay calm under pressure, and still deliver excellence.
Looking back, moments like that shaped how I approach every project today. They pushed me to develop better systems, plan more strategically, and always have contingency options. Most importantly, they reminded me that resilience is often built in the moments when things are hardest, and those lessons become the foundation for future success.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One important lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to do everything myself in order for it to be done perfectly.
When I first started building my wedding and event décor business, I believed that being involved in every single detail—from design to setup to coordination—was the only way to guarantee the quality and experience I wanted for my clients. I felt a strong sense of responsibility to make every event flawless, and because of that, I often carried more on my shoulders than I needed to.
At the beginning, that mindset came from passion and a desire to prove myself. As a growing business owner, I wanted every client to feel like their event was my top priority, and I thought the best way to do that was by personally handling everything. But over time, I realized that trying to do it all alone wasn’t sustainable, and it actually limited how much the business could grow.
The turning point came after a few events where the workload was intense and the timelines were tight. Even though the events turned out beautifully, I realized that creativity thrives best when there is collaboration, support, and space to focus on the bigger vision rather than just the logistics.
So I had to unlearn the belief that “doing it all myself equals excellence.” Instead, I learned that building a reliable team, trusting others with responsibilities, and creating systems actually leads to better results and a stronger client experience.
Today, that lesson has reshaped how I approach my work. I focus on the creative direction, the client relationship, and the overall vision for each event, while working with talented people who help bring those ideas to life. It allows me to maintain the quality and elegance my brand represents while also growing the business in a sustainable way.
In many ways, unlearning that mindset helped me move from simply running events to truly building a brand.
