Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omar Galvan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Omar, appreciate you joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
One thing my parents did right was teaching me the value of hard work and responsibility through their actions. Growing up, I watched them work hard to support our family, but they still made time to be there for me and encourage my goals. Seeing their dedication showed me that success takes effort and consistency.
They also taught me to take responsibility for my actions. If I made a mistake, they encouraged me to learn from it instead of avoiding it. Because of this, I learned to stay accountable and keep improving, which has helped me both in my personal life and in my career.
Another important lesson they passed on was treating people with respect. My parents always treated others kindly, and that example stuck with me. It shaped how I interact with people today and helped me build positive relationships in both my personal life and work.
Looking back, their example had a big impact on who I am today and continues to guide me in the choices I make.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a tattoo artist and the owner of BrickHouse Ink. My journey into tattooing actually started out of pure curiosity. My dad bought me a starter tattoo kit off Amazon just for fun. What started as experimenting and learning quickly turned into something I was completely passionate about. From that point on, I dedicated myself to developing my skills and understanding the craft, and before long it became my career and my life’s work.
Over the years, tattooing has grown from a personal interest into a full creative business. At BrickHouse Ink, we’ve built a team that is extremely versatile and capable of handling just about anything that comes through the door. Whether it’s small, delicate fine-line designs, meaningful personal pieces, large-scale sleeves, or full-body projects, our artists have the skill and experience to bring those ideas to life. We also provide professional piercing services, making sure our clients have access to highly trained artists and piercers for all of their body art needs.
What really sets us apart is the attention we give to our clients and the stories behind their tattoos. Every piece we create is custom work. We take the time to listen, understand the meaning behind the design, and collaborate with our clients so the final result truly represents their vision. Tattoos are deeply personal, and we treat them that way. Our goal is to make sure every client leaves with something meaningful that they’re proud to wear for the rest of their life.
Our mission at BrickHouse Ink is to create long-lasting memories with our clients through tattoo art. We’re passionate about transforming ideas into stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces that people can carry with them forever. At the same time, we’re committed to maintaining the highest level of professionalism, safety, and cleanliness in our shop.
Just as important as the art itself is the environment we create. We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel comfortable, welcome, and respected. Our shop is staffed by a team of talented artists who genuinely love what they do, and that energy shows in the work we produce and the relationships we build with our clients.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built around the shop and the trust our clients place in us to create something permanent and meaningful on their bodies. For anyone who hasn’t worked with us before, the main thing I want them to know is that at BrickHouse Ink, you’re not just getting a tattoo — you’re getting a fully custom piece of art created with care, passion, and attention to detail.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
One of my proudest moments was funding the start of my business myself. I worked day in and day out to make my dream a reality, putting in the time and effort needed to get everything off the ground.
That being said, we are incredibly grateful for the support we received along the way. We want to thank my dad and my father-in-law for helping us out, whether it was through financial support, supplies, or equipment. Their contributions made a big difference.
We also had amazing friends and family who donated their time and effort to help bring the space to life — building cabinets, painting, doing flooring, and helping with many of the finishing touches.
Although I had the initial capital to start the business, I truly couldn’t have done it without the people who stepped in to help. Their support, time, and hard work helped turn this dream into a reality, and we are incredibly thankful for that.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been focusing on exceptional customer experience and building strong relationships within our community. From the beginning, we prioritized quality service and creating a welcoming environment, which naturally led to strong word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied clients.
We have also used social media as a key tool to showcase our work, share updates, and stay connected with both current and potential customers. This has helped us increase visibility and attract new clients while continuing to engage with our existing customer base.
By combining excellent service, community engagement, and a consistent online presence, we’ve been able to steadily grow our clientele and build a loyal customer base that continues to support and promote our business.
