Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Oliver M Fitzpatrick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Oliver M, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Well my story starts at the ago of 4, as my mother tells it. I told her that I wanted to start dress by myself. Fast forward through my childhood I was always attracted to the Arts as a whole. The paintings, sculptures, fashion, music, etc I love it all. I’m also 6’4 250 lbs so it’s not always the easiest finding fashionable options to choose from. I have always had a very unique way of putting clothing together. I would even say that it definitely stood out amongst my pears growing up in the inner city of Southwest Little Rock. The honest truth is that it was also used as a defense mechanism for Police in the area. I found that I was left alone when I was dressed and put together. It shouldn’t have to be that way but hey it was a survival thing. Now I am in High School and I find out how to turn neckties into bow ties and I start to wear them and show others how to do it. This became pretty popular so I started to wear actual self tied bowties and finding very unique patterns. Now I am in college and for a school project we had to create a business and present to Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. At the time I created a shoe company and won 2nd place. After the competition I thought to myself what is something that I do effortlessly that I could really sell and stand behind the product something that my consumer would be like yeah I know him for that I would definitely buy from him. The answer came down to fashion and specifically bow ties. I then started Ndeed. I sold very unique pattern design bow ties. The demand got so high I said I need to learn how to sew. I then attended a fashion school in town named Arkansas Fashion Design School by Jameleh Kamran. I learned how to sew and was able to produce my own product. This became pretty popular and I was on the local news. Fast forward a few more years I move to Dallas TX to work for a suit company to really hone my skills with the true intricate details of Men clothing. While I was there I networked and collaborated with some like minded gentleman and grew more knowledge on my own of the fashion industry and manufacturing. I knew that I wanted to eventually have a brand that could make all kinds of products but I loved custom designing. I wanted to be like Dapper Dan meets SUPREME. Through months of trial and error I was able to find a manufacturing company to produce my custom pieces. I soon had my first custom suit client and things took off from there. Once this happend I said to myself now that Ndeed is able to provide the full package and not just bowties I need to add something to this name. I thought about it and one night I was watching a history documentary and it was discussing different types of regimes through history. I thought to myself in a way Ndeed is a regime I’m coming to take over I want to be one of the best fashion designers that ever lived and thats the energy I’m coming with. I feel I have something very unique to give fashion and a different creative point of view. This is when I updated the name to NDEED REGIME. The next couple years the suit business I worked for goes out of business and I move back home to little Rock to work in banking. This whole time I’m on my pursuit for Ndeed Regime to become one of the top fashion brands I’m working a full time job. I soon get an opportunity to present a collection at one of the biggest fashion shows in town Designers Choice Fashion Show. This was the the big introduction of Ndeed Regime as a full brand. This spear headed to other shows like Northwest Arkansas Fashion week which is another large fashion show in Arkansas. In this show Ndeed Regime along with a few other designers were featured in the Crystal Bridges Museum. After this show more shows came NYFW, LAFW, Atlanta , and more. The opportunity also came to be able to show a collection in London England during London Fashion Week. This was an amazing opportunity. Now Ndeed Regime has worked with professional athletes, lawyers, doctors, politicians, schools, and the list goes on. We have also been published in magazines and news articles. During this process I have been able to also give back and work with the youth. I have had the opportunity to speak at multiple schools about entrepreneurship and also teach styling tips. Ndeed Regime has also worked with the Greater Little Rock Chapter Jack and Jill organization teaching young men professional styling tips and how to tie bowties

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I feel that I’m always on a journey. A journey to the next goal to the next endeavor. In this case I can think of something particular that really changed the game for me. The process of finding a manufacturing company that would work with a small business was brutal. I had to have called and emailed over 50 companies. During this process I was told no by many companies or that I had to meet their minimum quantity. I finally found a company that would work with me and allow me to make singular orders instead of minimum quantities of 50-250. This allowed me to be able to provide a broader selection of fabrics and accessories to my clients.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I first met my business partner Keith Johnson in high school. We both played basketball. We became reacquainted years later while I was in New York showing for NYFW. This particular day in New York it was a crazy blizzard and he still meet with me for a consultation for a custom coat. This really made feel like this guy is a real man of his word to still show up for consultation in a blizzard. We discussed business, life, relationships, goals. and Ndeed Regime. Keith has a unique talent of networking and finding opportunities to scale the Ndeed Regime brand. There are two particular opportunities that Keith was able find for the business. The first was making a custom garment for Mrs. New Jersey and second was placing 3rd in the Rutgers College Business School Small Business pitch competition. There are many other ideas and opportunities that Keith has spearheaded with success. Keith is not only a business partner but a true friend.
