We recently connected with Olga Nelson and have shared our conversation below.
Olga, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Everything started when I left my career in mechanical engineering to focus on building a home, getting married and raising my daughter. I started my YouTube Channel in 2020 sharing ketogenic recipes, after I had my daughter I wanted a change. In those early days of motherhood, I found myself immersed in the world of YouTube. Fueled by a passion for teaching and a desire to empower women, I launched and poured her energy into creating my own YouTube content, teaching about the energetics of money, and offering advice on confidence and goal-reaching for women everywhere. Having experienced the impact of a life coach myself during pregnancy, I decided to explore life coaching to enhance my ability to guide women on a deeper level.
In 2023 we moved to Houston TX, and I finally made the decision to get certified as a life coach. In the middle of my program I got 6 practice clients and once I finished my certification program, I got more clients. Armed with my health and life coach certification from the Health Coach Institute, I launched the Goddess Transformation Program in the fall of 2023. This coaching initiative aims to empower women by helping them tap into the power of their inner goddess. The program covers topics such as aligning with feminine energy, setting boundaries, and understanding the energetics of money. My goal is to guide women toward achieving their desired outcomes, whether it’s a fulfilling marriage, financial success, or overall personal growth.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My brand is called POLKIZ, this is the name my friends and family call me since I was 13. Growing up, I knew I wanted to use this name to create a brand and business, I just didn’t know what was going to be.
Olga Nelson (Polkiz) is a Dual-Certified Health & Life Coach, wife, mom, real estate investor and engineer. Originally growing up in very humble beginnings in Guatemala, she is now an accomplished businesswoman and life coach that inspires and helps high achieving women breakthrough to their next level of financial, spiritual and relationship goals. She is devoted to helping women manifest more abundance and all of their hearts’ desires into existence. How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started Polkiz in 2020, it started only as a YouTube channel about healthy KETO recipes and it was only in spanish. Later, I created an online store where I sold my own products that I designed myself (hoodies, t-shirts, cooking aprons, recipe notepads, etc.). Polkiz was thriving, however, I knew I wanted to create a deeper impact with my brand, more than just sharing a recipes or selling cooking tools. After I had my daughter, I didn’t have enough time to record the cooking videos because they are very elaborated and with the high demands of a newborn, it didn’t feel aligned. That is when my brand Polkiz shifted.
I started to post motivational videos for women in Polkiz’s YouTube channel. Also started a “Money Series” about the energetics of money in spanish and english! I wanted to share my experience being a real estate investor with my husband and our experience as business owners. I found a passion in teaching women how to have a good relationship with money because I had to heal my own money story while becoming an investor. I discovered that I love teaching and helping other women understand money and not be afraid of being comfortable with it.
In 2022 we moved to our new home in Houston TX, were we now live. And WE LOVE TEXAS! after we moved here, I decided to get certified as a Life Coach. I started with clients even before I graduated as a coach. Now with many tools available, I am able to help more women to awaken their inner Goddess Power. I have had the opportunity to coach amazing women, be a keynote speaker for multiple women’s events, have done group coaching, and we are going for more!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was my money story. The money story I grew up with was not serving me anymore if I wanted to do and be greater.
Growing up in Guatemala, I didn’t have all the resources to become financially literate or have a good relationship with money. I moved to the USA when I was 15, and I knew I could do and be more, and so I did. I graduated with a Bachelors in Engineering Science – Petroleum Engineering and worked as a Mechanical Engineer.
I always dreamed big, and I took risks being afraid but trusting that God and higher power got my back, always.
I learned to shift and reframe my limiting beliefs around wealth, money, abundance and becoming a millionaire as a latina from Guatemala. Now I want to help other high achieving women who might feel in the same position I was years ago.
