Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Olayinka Temilade. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Olayinka, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
“As a creative, I’ve always found joy in bringing ideas to life. While it’s not always easy, the freedom to express myself and connect with others through my art is incredibly fulfilling. Sure, there are days when uncertainty creeps in, but the thrill of creating something new and seeing how it resonates with others makes it all worth it.
That being said, I do appreciate the stability and security that comes with a regular job. Sometimes, I imagine what it would be like to have a 9-to-5 job, with a predictable income and benefits. But, I’ve come to realize that my creative pursuits bring me a sense of purpose and happiness that I wouldn’t trade for stability alone.
The last time I had this thought was during a particularly challenging project. I was working on a tight deadline, and self-doubt was creeping in. I found myself wondering if it would be easier to just have a regular job, without the pressure to constantly create and innovate. But, as I reflected on my journey, I realized that the struggles and uncertainties are a part of what make my art meaningful.
I remembered the sense of pride and accomplishment I felt when I completed previous projects, and how they’ve positively impacted others. I thought about the freedom to pursue my passions and the opportunities I’ve had to connect with like-minded individuals. In the end, I concluded that being a creative is not just about the art itself, but about the journey, the growth, and the connections I make along the way.
So, to answer your question, I’m happy being a creative because it allows me to express myself authentically and connect with others on a deeper level. While it’s not always easy, the rewards far outweigh the challenges.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passions, and I feel fulfilled by the creative process. While challenges arise, the joy and sense of accomplishment I get from bringing my ideas to life make it all worth it.”

ways in which the human body conveys emotions, tells stories, and reveals our inner selves.
As a thread artist, My clients often seek me out for my attention to detail, creativity, and ability to bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s a custom portrait, a meaningful quote, or a special message, I work closely with my clients to ensure their vision is realized.
What sets me apart is my dedication to craftsmanship and my passion for storytelling through thread. I take pride in every stitch, carefully selecting colors and techniques to create pieces that are not only visually stunning but also emotionally resonant.
I’m most proud of the connections I’ve made with my clients and the joy my art brings to their lives. I’ve had the privilege of creating pieces that commemorate special occasions, honor loved ones, and inspire personal growth.

Ultimately, my goal is to bring people together through shared experiences and emotions, using my art as a catalyst for meaningful connections

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem, society should provide accessible funding and resources, such as grants and residencies, that cater to diverse artistic disciplines and career stages. It’s also essential to foster inclusive platforms and exposure, offering opportunities for artists to showcase their work through exhibitions, performances, and online platforms.
Promoting arts education and literacy is crucial, integrating arts into school curricula and community programs to emphasize their value in personal and societal development. Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration between artists and professionals from other fields can drive innovation and creativity.
Ensuring fair compensation and protecting intellectual property rights are also vital. Building supportive communities that offer mentorship, peer support, and opportunities for growth can help artists thrive. Ultimately, recognizing the value of arts in society and advocating for policies that support the arts can create an environment that nurtures creativity and fosters a vibrant and diverse creative ecosystem.
