We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nikkie Hancock a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nikkie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is about showing up every day and learning and adapting. Showing up everyday helps with your mindset and staying resilient.
Also passion and committment to your business you will fail. Community and Family are everything for your business to succeed. Without support from your family and community no one succeeds. No one can juggle all business hats alone. You need support, don’t try and do things alone.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hill Country Moms Network was born out of a genuine love for community and a desire to support local families and businesses. Our mission is simple: to be the go-to resource for families living in or visiting the Texas Hill Country. We’re here to make life a little easier by offering trusted recommendations, curated guides, and helpful resources that connect moms (and dads!) to the best our area has to offer. What makes us unique is our deep commitment to both families and local businesses. We’re not just an online resource; we’re a community partner. We take pride in the relationships we’ve built and the trust our audience places in us. Unlike larger platforms, we’re deeply rooted in the Hill Country—this is our home, and we’re passionate about celebrating the charm and character of this beautiful region.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Connection, I have said it before but without community and your family backing you, it makes it almost impossible to succeed. Build a strong connection with your audience. Be vulnerable, share your life. Be authentic and original.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I can share so many stories but for the sake of this interview, I will share one.
I had a career teaching before our children were born but staying at home with them was always a dream for my husband and I. The opportunity and time came for me to stay home with both of our children and I took it.
I couldn’t have felt more lost the first couple of months at home as a “Mom”. I was so used to my career before I didn’t know how to adjust to being a Mom but in time I did learn and loved it. Now, my children are older and I continue to work at home with them also being homeschooled.
