We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Hill-Kay recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I started off as a full time surgical nurse. At the age of 26 I became a single mother and it was the fear of not being able to support my daughter that pushed me to take the cosmetic injector course as something to do on the side for extra money. It turned into something that I loved to do and was very good out. Eventually after 4 years working at other clinics I took the small amount of savings I had to open my own business . I risked everything to bet on myself, and six years later I run a successful full time business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been doing cosmetic injections for 10 years! I still love what I do and all my wonderful clients, many of which I now call friends. Over the last decade I have focused on real and natural results. I specialize in advanced injections and love doing full facial balancing using multiple modalities such as botox, Hyaluronic acid fillers, sculptra and Platelet rich fibrin. I love to continue my education by taking online and in person courses. This allows me to constantly learn and grow, and bring the newest techniques to my clients.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Shortly after starting my business Covid happened! This was a scary and challenging time, with constant shut downs and bills continuing to come out I doubted if I made the right decision. When I was able to work, I was so grateful to see my clients and our connections were even stronger because of the isolation going on in the world. I was able to build lasting relationships and trust with my clients because of these connections and the natural, beautiful results of their treatments.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The focus for my business was always on honesty, integrity and morals. I wanted to break the stigma that this industry was superficial or overdone. My goal was to listen to client needs and help them look and feel like the best version of themselves. It’s about building client trust and long term goals. My motto is the four R’s: Retention, Referrals, Results and real Reviews!
