We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Neveah OTR (on the rise) a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Neveah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mom was so influential in my desire to sing and she always encouraged me to be bold to be outstanding and to be uncompromising in the pursuit of my dreams. I lost my dad at an early age but he was such a firm believer in hard work and entrepreneurship. My mom always told me how much she saw him in me and that always made me feel a connection to him even though I didn’t have him physically with me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began my music career in college and haven’t looked back since. I take pride in being an artist that focuses on authenticity and organic and that in turn allows me to create music that is timeless and connects with all walks of life. My journey has been full of ups and downs but I’m most proud of the downs because I always found a way to get back up!! That’s where all the lessons are formed, learned and then applied allowing me to have a better opportunity to have longevity my industry. All of my music is owned by me and has been released by me so I take pride in my entrepreneurial spirit and my desire to learn. What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What keeps me going is my family and my desire to create generational wealth. In all areas of my life it always my hope to be a help and inspiration to that allows my pursuits to be a testimony of what is possible if you believe in yourself without reservation and put your ideas into ACTION. My event The Neveah Experience is a platform that aims to provide an opportunity for artists to perform and gain knowledge about not only music but all aspects of life including financial freedom as well as business accrument to see the maximum results within any area of pursuit. The Neveah Experience is a concert that includes my band, dancers and myself as the lead singer. We do a variety of covers and originals and always provide space within the event for featured artists to perform, network and sell merchandise. The goal is always to create the opportunities I want to see and in turn be a blessing to those are seeking an opportunity.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think the best example of this for me and my journey is transitioning from just being a solo track performing artist to bringing a full production to life and moving with it. In the beginning stages of my career I had to pay to perform and it was very rare that I would receive bookings with venues that paid me instead of me paying them. As time went on I began creating a vision board for my ideas of how to change that narrative and make my value more appealing. I I began to understand that it was my responsibility to show why Im worth the opportunity to be booked as opposed to waiting for the opportunity. From there, The Neveah Experience was curated and paid bookings have increased tremendously.
