Neusa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Covid has brought about so many changes – has your business model changed?
Covid was the foundation of T&N Backyard Rental LLC. During Covid, all function halls, restaurants, and places that people gathered to celebrate accomplishments, achievements, new beginnings and more were all closed. This is when the idea of starting the business began to allow small groups of people to have smaller gatherings in their backyard by providing tables, chairs, and items that could make their celebrations enjoyable.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello, my name is Neusa Galvao and I am a Victim Service Coordinator for the Massachusetts Parole Board and also a banquet specialist at Miraval Ballroom located in E. Bridgewater Massachusetts and I own my own party rental company in which I rent out tables and chairs for clients looking to have an outdoor gathering called T& N Backyard Rental LLC.
Working for the Commonwealth as a victim service coordinators Advocate for victims, and families of violent crime. I am constantly delivering emotional news to families that have lost loved ones that have been impacted by a crime and that are trying to move forward with their lives. This position can cause a lot of emotional distress, but very rewarding at the same time. Through my life, I have always worked multiple jobs and I chose the field of banquet work for over 20 yrs because I love seeing the final product and helping clients have successful events. When Covid came about it caused the venue I worked for to shut down and we could not have any events. This is when I came up with the idea of starting my own small family owned party rental company where I provided tables and chairs so people could continue to celebrate in smaller groups.
T&N Backyard Rental LLC thrives to go above and beyond for clients and trying to make their planning process as easy-going as possible. We provide the opportunity for a guest to allow us to set up and break down the tables and chairs, so they have less to worry about. We also provide same-day delivery and pick up which many party rental companies don’t allow. This is a service that we thought would be beneficial for clients who wanted to do their events in a park.
I am very passionate and love to make my clients happy so I’m always willing to go above and beyond to make sure getting them their items whenever works best for them a priority.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When starting T&N Backyard Rental LLC I purchased some chairs with my own money and started renting it out and from that I took the money I made and grew my business with tables, chairs, Cocktail Tables and more. I never took out a loan to start my business. I used my own personal money.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My parents brought myself and my siblings to America for a better living. They worked in factories for many years and ultimately purchased their first home where we grew up. We did not have a lot, but we made it work. They made many sacrifices for us as children, and I felt for their sacrifices. I would make sure myself, and my children had even a better life. I felt I Owed my parents for what they did for us. At the age of 17 I chose to have a child and he became my motivation as well to make sure I succeeded in life. I put myself through college and ultimately starting in my career in the criminal justice system working for the district Attorney’s office while in college and continued for nine years and then now working for the Massachusetts Parole Board. So I worked multiple jobs throughout my life, I purchased my first investment property and ultimately, I was able to get my own single family. Though this was not easy, I am glad I took the path I did.
