We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Neil. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Neil below.
Alright, Neil thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about one of the craziest things you’ve experienced in your journey so far.
One of the craziest and most unexpected experiences I’ve had as a musician came from a project that, at first, didn’t feel like a big deal—but ended up teaching me one of the most important lessons of my career.
I had agreed to work on a film project, putting in my time, creativity, and energy as both a composer and performer. Like with many independent productions, there wasn’t a huge budget, but I believed in the collaboration and the potential of the project. Everyone on the team was passionate, and it felt like we were building something meaningful together.
After the project wrapped, I didn’t hear much for a while. Then one day, I randomly came across a post online—the film had been released publicly. No message, no heads-up, no acknowledgment. I watched it, and there it was: all the work we had put in, now out in the world… but without any communication or proper credit.
In that moment, I felt a mix of emotions—shock, disappointment, and honestly, a bit of disbelief. As artists, we pour so much of ourselves into our work, and to see it treated like an afterthought was tough. It wasn’t just about recognition—it was about respect for the time, effort, and passion that goes into creating something.
But looking back, that experience became a turning point for me. It made me realize that being a musician today isn’t just about creating great music—it’s about understanding your value, setting clear expectations, and protecting your work like a business. Since then, I’ve become much more intentional about communication, agreements, and making sure that every collaboration is built on mutual respect.
On the positive side, that same experience pushed me to focus more on projects where my voice is truly valued—whether it’s composing for films, performing live, or creating my own music. It reminded me that while the creative journey can be unpredictable, those unexpected moments—both good and bad—shape you into a stronger artist and entrepreneur.
In a strange way, that “crazy” experience helped me grow the most. It taught me that in the music world, talent gets you in the door—but clarity, boundaries, and self-respect are what sustain your career.

Neil, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Neil Nayyar, a multi-instrumentalist, singer, Rapper, Beatboxer, actor, film composer, DJ, and recording artist. My journey into music began at a very young age, fueled by curiosity and a desire to explore sound in every form. I didn’t want to limit myself to one instrument—I wanted to master them all. Today, I play over 140 instruments from around the world, which has earned me world records and the ability to create truly unique musical experiences.
Over time, my passion evolved into film scoring, where I discovered how music can tell a story, shape emotion, and elevate visuals. I’ve composed original scores for multiple films, blending cinematic storytelling with a diverse range of sounds that reflect my versatility.
In addition to composing, I perform live using DJ techniques combined with instruments and live looping, creating immersive performances that mix genres, cultures, and styles in real time. I also create original albums and tutorials to inspire and educate other musicians, helping them expand their own musical creativity.
What I provide isn’t just music—it’s a full sound experience. Filmmakers, event organizers, and audiences come to me for performances and compositions that stand out, because I blend instruments, looping, and innovative techniques to deliver something entirely unique. My work solves the problem of generic sound by offering versatility, creativity, and storytelling through music.
What sets me apart is not only the sheer number of instruments I can play, but how I combine them in ways most people haven’t heard before—whether through live looping, genre-blending, or crafting cinematic scores. This allows me to adapt to any project while still maintaining a signature sound.
I’m most proud of building a career that lets me perform on national platforms, compose award-winning film scores, release original albums, and inspire others, all while pushing the boundaries of what a musician can do.
What I want people to know is that I don’t just make music—I create experiences. Every performance, every composition, and every project is driven by passion, innovation, and authenticity. My brand is about breaking barriers, whether through instruments, techniques, or stories, leaving an impact that audiences don’t just hear—they feel.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the moments that really tested my resilience happened during a live performance early in my career. I was performing at a music festival, using live looping and multiple instruments to create a layered, one-of-a-kind performance. Everything was running smoothly until, halfway through, my looping setup glitched and started looping the wrong sounds. In that moment, with hundreds of eyes on me, it felt like all my preparation and months of practice were unraveling.
Instead of panicking, I had to think fast. I improvised with instruments I could grab on the spot, turning what could have been a disaster into a completely new musical arrangement. The audience didn’t notice the technical issues—they only saw a performance that sounded even more spontaneous and exciting than planned. That experience taught me the value of staying calm under pressure, thinking creatively in real time, and trusting my skills even when everything seems to go wrong.
Since then, I’ve faced countless challenges in my music career—from composing complex film scores under tight deadlines to managing large-scale live performances—but I now see each challenge as an opportunity to grow. Resilience, I’ve learned, isn’t just about bouncing back; it’s about adapting, innovating, and keeping your passion alive no matter what unexpected obstacles arise.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build my reputation in the music world is a combination of versatility, innovation, and consistency. From a young age, I immersed myself in learning instruments from around the globe, and today I can play over 140 instruments. That foundation gave me the ability to approach music in ways few others can—whether it’s composing a film score, performing live with DJing and live looping, or creating original albums that blend multiple genres.
Another key factor has been my willingness to push creative boundaries. I don’t just perform or compose music—I craft unique experiences that audiences remember. Using unconventional techniques, combining multiple instruments in real time, and experimenting with new sounds has helped me stand out and be recognized for originality. This distinct approach has led to opportunities to be featured on major platforms such as The Jennifer Hudson Show, Good Morning America, and Let’s Make a Deal, as well as appearances on KTLA 5 and FOX 11 Los Angeles. My work has also been highlighted through national campaigns, including a Got Milk billboard commercial and multiple Honda commercials, further expanding my reach to wider audiences.
Finally, I’ve built my reputation by being reliable and professional. Filmmakers, collaborators, and event organizers know they can count on me to deliver high-quality work, meet deadlines, and bring a project to life exactly as envisioned—or sometimes in ways that exceed expectations. By combining skill, creativity, and professionalism, I’ve been able to grow a reputation as someone who consistently delivers exceptional and memorable musical experiences.
