We were lucky to catch up with Nathan Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nathan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Leading by example is exactly what my parents embody. I’ve watched them work hard my entire life with little to no complaints. Commitment to provide for family while giving more than 100% in their work resonated a strong work ethic that was instilled in me. I can remember one moment in my life when I had an overnight stocking job and worked with my mom. That summer was when the way I approached any job changed for me. I watched my mom outwork nearly everyone on our shift. She told me when you clock in to do your job, don’t socialize and if you work hard then that will not go unnoticed. I took that with me in every job and task through life. I owe them for showing me a great example.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
For those who don’t know me, I am a father, husband and son. I have been in the Radiology profession for more than 15 years specializing mostly in the MRI sector. Training others and helping others is something that came naturally to me. It only seemed natural to help my fellow colleagues learn how to utilize the scanners to do their jobs more effectively and share the knowledge I learned along the way. I was able to join with other highly skilled trainers and specialist to create a hub to serve North America and beyond. Imaging Diversified was spawned from this mission to supply training to the masses. We work with the manufacturers of Radiology equipment, service providers, hospitals, imaging centers, radiologist and all that align in the advancement of education of Radiology professionals. We have extended our service offerings to include staffing and consulting with customers who need help deciding on Radiology equipment or operations. We look to connect with the community and any person or group that would like to help us in our efforts to provide training or services. Our goal is to improve Radiology effectiveness and efficiency to both rural or low income areas and high traffic cities. We want to see high quality imaging in healthcare everywhere. We encourage partnerships both domestic and internationally. We will be adding offerings for innovative trainings and look to work with more non-profits in the future.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Quality. Giving quality service has been our #1 most effective tool. We have bailed out companies that weren’t trained for the job or we been called in to redo training due to sub par training. We view our opportunities to help instead of making a quick buck. Maintaining this quality standard has allowed us the opportunity to grow through referrals and request.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Opportunity. I was first given an opportunity to go directly into the MRI field and promised that job before graduating by the imaging manager. Then I was given an opportunity to attend my first conference which sparked my thirst for more knowledge in my field. Later I was given an opportunity to learn multiple Radiology equipment of all types which I then was able to share that knowledge with my colleagues. I would say I have had opportunities put in front of me that Intook advantage of and used to advance myself. I did not squander these opportunities and using them in combination with learning, training and hard work I’ve been able to become who I am now.
